Game is Dead. RIP POE 2014.

If we look at the steam statistics, this game is trending downwards hard.

POE isn't dead in Garena, but it sure is dead across all other gateways.
Path of Exile is dead. Long live Path of Exile.

Bottom line, game does feel like it's dying. I was going to make a long post with feedback but realized writing all that is a poor waste of my time. I see max 11 friends online these days when before it a lot more. I believe people are pissed off about the nerfs and direction of the game, and are bored with the lack of content.

I agree with OP - nerfing builds constantly is NOT sustainable to maintain player-base. Players grind for hours to buy/make/find items needed for their builds and then the build gets nerfed? Some items require months of farming so this cycle of nerfs is disheartening and discourages players from grinding for their items or even trying new builds.

Builds getting nerfed in the middle of the leagues? Didn't affect me, but what's up with that? GGG showcasing Build of the Weeks and then nerfing them weeks after, what is that?

Another reason this game feels dead to me is that there is massive stagnation of builds - there have been no new builds that are truly NEW and use novel concepts/mechanics because all the builds have been exhausted with current skills and gear and optimum combinations have all been found.

Hopefully when Act 4 comes out this will help rejuvenate the game.

And then the game will RIP once again.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

Steam stats are actually stagnating, not trending downwards. Numbers are comparable to February 2014. So if PoE is dead now, it was dead in February 2014 too. But if it was dead back then, how are we having this conversation?

GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Numerous nerfs to countless builds. Relentlessly nerfing builds patch after patch. Horrible Desync. Bad Optimization. Did you guys really think you would keep a playerbase this way?

There are games out there that are actually fun to play. I almost forgot that playing this economy simulator we call PoE.

Forgot the lack of NEW content, being the game is suppose to be hardcore and it takes a huge investment of time to actually git gud or get something nice, having something else to do after getting bored of maps and Atziri only is a lot better..and no, I don't wanna spam trade and play Path of Wall Street then.

The relentless nerfs that's powered by the QQboard or forums is literally not helping in improving playerbase. In fact more and more people are quitting as a result. I'm still baffled on why they keep nerfing something that works, and don't rework the builds that they literally killed off i.e. RT dual wield, RT 2H, and melee in general. So yea, their ingenius "balances" done to the game are indeed killing it slowly lol.

I wish your favorite games die, too.
Game is not dead, but it is hibernating.

-Most top Ladders players are waiting the new leagues, because they are also those who decide about the economy oftemp leagues. Since they left all the temp league economy have left too.

-Standard is kind of dying because of nerf: here,Players mentality is to keep one toon and to try to play it forever. Because of all the change in tree and nerf in builds, a lot of standard who already got to level 100 just stopped playing.

-Game updates are too slow compared than in past. In past we had new skills and uniques every week/2 weeks. Imo it was great because you would keep playing just to find the new gems(balance issue is another story).
With Masters and AIV they stopped this cycle. It is understandable because GGG staff really work a lot, but it kind of slowed the everyday novelty of the game.

Game will be dead when GGG want it to be dead. Hopefully AIV will make the game shine again and after that we sill get those little weekly updates like in past.
