See, when the game isn't progression/risk-reward based, and instead replaces it with relying on dumb luck and/or trading skills - that's what you get.

Vagan is a boolean DPS-check encounter, and OP's gear has absolutely nothing to do with this fact. Which obviously doesn't stop trolls trying to "disprove" him by going "such gear l2p".
They achieve nothing besides being insulting pricks.

A level 7 Vagan is a boolean DPS-check encounter, yes, but OP's gear has absolutely everything to do with this fact.

If OP has taken the time and effort to get Vagan to this level, shouldn't he, by now, have also accumulated the experience and knowhow to maximize the gear and gems he has on hand? Especially if he's encountering a foe he can't get past. Or at least try to understand why his attacks might be ineffectual.

Wouldn't you also consider a 5L attack consisting of Dual Strike + Faster Attacks + Melee Splash + Multistrike + Reduced Mana to be not tbe best setup? To put it lightly.

@John- you don't need top tier gear to deal with any aspect of the game( well maybe for uber).
I assume that people with great gear knows to play, in this case this assumption is wrong.
Let's be honest here, OP has bought gear with real cash, I personally don't care, he doesn't have much time for play and he wanted to beat the game in that way, he fails beacuse he doesn't know the basics...

Question for OP: how much $$$ 6l shavs costs? 10,50, 100? i really don't know :))

1) All previous info leads us to the simpliest conclusion (say hello to Occam's Razor): he didn't get his gear in fair way and still doesn't know almost anything about game encounters after a year passed (check OP's registration)

2a) Such smart words in such inappropriate situation. He could've been "boolean" (for example, if both of you would have 1 HP at the start and this would be "reaction check"), but he is not.
2b) It seems to me that you also didn't understand why are we talking about OP's gear in this situation.

It really bugs me, he has 100 ex worth of gear and it seems like he's doing his best to NOT make it work!

I also bet he has less then 3k combined ES/life and a terrible passive tree. I'm 100% sure about it

After reading these comments it is impossible for me to not think I made a mistake by posting here....
For the record, NO I did NOT pay real $ for my shavs, it dropped for me while farming DOM in cruel, and I got lucky with fuses and the links, and the voll's amulet I got off trade chat.
Continuing, I am not losing to Vagan EVERY time, but he seems to switch up the attacks he uses EVERY time, and as for killing his minions, that is a hoot as they always stick to him like glue, and every time I stop to throw a blow he is right there with that outrageous cleave attack. Also, he DOES spam health potions, so beating him within a time limit is hilarious.
Also, as I believe I stated in my previous posts here, the floor in the room is almost ALWAYS on fire during this fight, and his minions exasperate this by throwing fire traps everywhere.

This forum seems to be infested with trolls who do nothing but pick apart anyone's threads that make the mistake of not praising every aspect of the game.

In any case, I may switch up my attacks when the upcoming 1.3.0 patch drops and we get a full respec, but until then I will avoid this forum like the plague kids, thanks for nothing!!

@Majmun, read my post again. I said you need progressively higher DPS when encountering him at your "level" and current content. the bastard is a flask spammer like no other.
and by high maps this "required DPS" may be extremely high, while your gear progression got stuck somewhere in Merciless because fuck RNG.
so yeah you need good enough gear, which the game simply does not provide you unless lucky - so your only option is to trade your way to the top instead of killing crazy shit.
and/or you need a powerful build, which pretty much limits what you can play to a very small subset.

also, don't accuse others of RMT unless you have a really good reason to.

2) he's boolean in a sense that either you have the DPS or you don't.
if you have, it will be over in seconds.
if you don't - you can't kill him if there's a timer, because of his damned insta-flasks of immortality.

3) I take it you linked gear to show-off. it's nice. but it only means you pass the DPS check by having a specific powerful build. not everyone do.

and yes, people who respond to feedback by "l2p" or "link build/gear I want to make fun of you" - are most definitely trolls.
they don't understand the feedback, and subsequently use bullshit methods to try "disprove" what they don't understand.
some people can read, get the point, disagree with the point, and argue against it without insults or disrespect. trolls can't, and by definition don't intend to.

Cruel Dominus - being level 54 - isn't capable of dropping Occultist Vestments.

He has only 3 flasks IIRC.

also - even if we assume that's true - the game's two top life flasks heal 2080 hp over 4 seconds, or 2400 hp over 7 seconds.
both have 3 uses if full.

Vagan - past a certain level - heals more, and faster.
like his are some kind of super-flasks players won't ever have.
and if you don't pass the DPS check, that would be more than enough for him to stay alive after the timer runs out.
