Sallazzang, Labyrinth Map Boss
" i'm positive that MoM + AA + grace + ondar's guile doesn't work. not quite one-shot, but so fast that practically speaking it is. when i level my duelist and have 0 exp, i'm going to give it a shot with IC. however someone told me that part of the damage is chaos damage, which could explain a lot. |

" MoM and AA mitigate it. Grace and ondar's don't since EK is a spell. AA definitely works fine due to it being many physical hits. " It's all phys. Mark PMed me this a while ago: "It currently deals only physical damage. The skill has the stat to convert a % of physical damage to chaos, but it's set to 0% conversion. This probably indicates it dealt chaos damage in a previous version or in testing at some point, but no longer." Last edited by kasub#2910 on Oct 6, 2014, 12:56:15 PM

" aha. ok. that's very good to know. that encounter is currently at the top of my least favorite list. i freaking hate not being able to beat it, so i'm going to try again. oh and that explains why my incinerate build could beat it fairly easily. has like 55% spell block. demonstrating once again, block is OP. |

I'm surprised that no one has posted the easy way yet.
Devourers only spawn in the middle of the room (on the lawn) so always stay outside the pillars. Use any ranged ability to pull the blue pack and kill it. Get rid off the corpses (or if unable move to another side of the room) and find the boss. Again use any ranged ability to pull the boss away form the lawn and face tank it at the edge of the room. If you don't have any ranged abilities it's possible to do body pulls as well. With totems or SRS you need to body pull and be very careful about placing your minions (fortunately SRS can get rid off the corpses easily). Never played traditional summoner so no idea if the tactic can be used by them. Without corpses the boss is no harder than a regular rare squirrel (or whatever they are). |

@kuukkeli, they must have changed this, because in my case the entire fight was outside the pillars - and the worms were there as well as the boss.
the only monsters on the lawn, were blue mobs I killed first. thinking about it, this could have been my initial mistake. it's possible Sallazzang was eating their corpses to "reload", rather than Devourer corpses. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat

" I think I did the fight yesterday and it was behaving as usual. If you aggro the devourers (by going in to middle) they will follow you outside of pillars. If you (or your minions) don't go to middle the only devourers you're going to see are few corpses that come out of the ground when the boss dies. And the boss eats the corpses of the blue pack as well. That's why you should pull them first and either get rid off their bodies or move to other side to pull the boss. |

you are right. I did run to the middle to kill the blues, which must have attracted the Devourers' attention. after that though, they were literally everywhere, including the additional packs Sallazzang apparently summons.
I think my best strategy when I face this guy again - as an evasion archer - would be to just run past all the "minions", pop a Granite, and single-target Frenzy and Puncture the bastard until he's dead. Ondar's Guile should keep me pretty much immune to the worms' projectiles and his normal non-EK attack. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
