see how some are marked "Hardcore League"? and most of them didn't originate in HC which means I play temporary HC leagues too. all except recent Beyond because I tried it and hated it.
and I do it on a machine so lag/desync/FPS-drop prone, you wouldn't even consider doing what I do.
and I deleted 99% of my dead HC chars, which I'm sure you don't fucking have the balls to do.

and yes, I play SC leagues too. mostly SC. for most of my 2000ish hours since the start of Open Beta.
yes, partly because you can play without worrying about "consequences" there - but that's not the main reason.
the main reason, is because it's so bloody fun.

Edit: Also I think the boss gets the first volley for free so always watch out when entering.

My facetank him while out leeching his damage and out damaging his regen is still the best strategy.

This helps too:

Totems

Single target him down as fast as possible while chaining granites, unless youre a high armor toon (if people still make those) then just hold down rightclick and facetank everything with the usual cwdt setup.

A lot of the responses here are build-specific... yeah, FP works great to deny him corpses, but if you aren't FP?



If you know you are going to fight him, and aren't a build that counters his innate abilities, bring

A) The enfeeble curse (no links necessary)
B) Granite Potion
C) Some form of corpse-removal (devouring totem/DD, no sockets needed)


1 potion and 2 unlinked sockets work.

(no, enfeeble wont make his EK miss, but reducing it's damage is non-trivial when combined with granite).


As long as you have the DPS to finish him before your granite charges are gone, and you are geared better than a damp dishrag, this should work for any build.
