Vaal Pact gives you only a measly 40% while OP gloves give you not only around 9 more points to spend but also 100% life AND mana leech.

Also dont forget about the fact that people have bulked up like 40-60 pairs of gloves and these are already the richest people in the game. When the patch hits these people will get thousends of exalts. They need to do something about the gloves..

What do you care about how rich some ppl are? Doesnt effect me whatsoever. Not to mention you can do hardest content including her Uberness without these gloves so I never need to interact with these people.

Atziris Acuity isnt blanced, where is the instant leech uniqe for RT builds?
I'm a savage, I'm a king
I fought deceivers
I conquered evil
It is the least terrible option in terms of gloves, yes. Legacy Acuities would have been a complete travesty.

However, that's still overlooking the problems with Vaal Pact. If you want, you can separate the two entities and just look at how bad it is.

Balancing by scarcity in a game about boss farming? Do we live on the same planet?

If butchering something that everyoen has eqaul access to and then releasing an even better option, but gated behind a time/wallet wall is a good balacing decision in your mind, then no we do not live on the same planet.

No, it's retarded. You don't introduce a game breaking/making mechanic on items that are nearly impossible to obtain and at the same time remove said mechanic from the skill tree. The guys who make balancing decisions really need to think things through before they make such stupid decisions.
Then every item that has ever been made legacy is balanced. 1000 HP Kaoms was scarce after all.

This has nothing to do with the gloves, but if the game is being balanced around the challenge leagues, presence of "dead" weeks between them is something very wrong.

In that case league ending/starting dates should be aligned much more close.
"Balancing via scarcity" is about as moronic as "security through obscurity."

No, you DON'T balance through scarcity. You make strong items scarce as a psychological tactic. OP item means that people will chase it, and scarcity means it will take them a lot of time/possibly forever before they can obtain it.

Consider another highly successful game called Magic: The Gathering.

When the game was first created, the concept was that rare cards would be the most powerful cards, and common cards the weakest cards, and it would be "balanced" because no one could acquire all of the rare cards. Rare cards would be the sort of signature cards you built a deck around.

But what happened in reality is that some people acquired multiple copies of all the rares and built decks around them, and these decks trashed all other decks. Having rares be the most powerful cards was very good for business, as it encouraged people to chase them and collect them, but it wasn't good for game balance, because you essentially couldn't compete unless you invested thousands of dollars into a deck.

So they had to ban and restrict a lot of those cards for competitive play, and they changed their design philosophy to acknowledge that rarity does not balance OPness. Now if you play Magic, there are still some very powerful rare cards, but there are also some very powerful common cards, and rare cards tend to be the unusual or complex cards rather simply having the most raw power.

THAT is how you use rarity to balance items in an ARPG. You make items that have easily understood, straightforward effects more common, and you make niche items more rare. In this way you ensure that players can get the "must have" items that allow them to take on the content, but if they want really build altering items, they have to seek them out or get lucky.

Acuity should not be a rare unique, because it's not a niche item. It's an item that works with the most blunt and straight forward crit damage builds, and destroys one of the most difficult obstacles in the game (dealing with damage reflection with a high damage build). It should either be a fairly common item, or it should not exist at all (or it should be nerfed).

I'm just talking about balance here, not about what is good business. Pissing off people who made the effort to acquire this item may not be good for business.
