I think a GGG response on Vaal Oversoul is due.
" I think he meant alleviate in the rip the bandage off faster way. Its the same thing but the faster speed makes it seem to sting just slightly less because your not spending as much time watching it happen. |

" lol Ive been on the war path myself a few times, Im sure youve had to suffer my wanton rage on a few occasions slayer, for which I appologise. So maybe I shouldnt be one to talk, however.... there is too much war pathing going on in the forums these days, it must be said. This thread is a good example of an exception, where there is a serious case in hand of blatant ingame bullshit afoot that needed called out, but ya, the war path is getting way too much footfall. Back to the topic, yeah Vaal can be utter bullshit. I feel like it needs its own little sync mechanic or something in place. Remember when you died out of the blue in the Residence map on one of your legacy kaoms rangers Anuh? That was bullshit too. This si why Id never take hardcore seriously and invest 1000s of hours into characters there in an online game. D3 is the same, not for the same reasons but theres been so many bullshit hardcore deaths there that come down to the fact the game online. Eventually, bullshit is going to catch up with you in online games, hard sync it and it will be the bullshit lag we experience in fps games. Swallowing some amount of it is always going to be a part of playing a game over the net but theres a few select cases in this game where the absurdity of it definitely needs addressed somehow. If you are going to have telegraphed 1 shot mechanics then there needs to be something in place to make sure that actually plays out on the client side every time. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :) Last edited by Snorkle_uk#0761 on Jun 27, 2014, 5:23:00 PM

" Oh I remember it, it's the reason I don't even think about doing Palace Dom and what is behind one of the points in my frequent rants about sync. That being 'adding not just a 1-shot boss that is rarely in sync position-telegraph-sound-ground effect-damage, but also adding a host of high damaging minions that, by their sheer design will have pathing issues and sync issues'. Yeah, I was Bow-Frenzy leeching through Doms Lightning soul-stream attack, which I do no trouble, then instantly died. Watching the VoD, the only explanation was a gaggle of 'sploders that were not on my screen must have let rip on me. If they can do that in Residence, fuck going in Palace boss room any more. That and the last time I did, Dom ran away from me and hid :) I'm still so mad at that, lol, http://www.twitch.tv/theanuhart/c/3265096 but not mad enough that I still laugh at the whole thing. Hmmm, I wonder if the Residence episode was the 'sploders getting their revenge for me making a 'sploder carpet in Palace ^_- Casually casual.

I know how to fix d-sync very easily.
When the client / server detects it, make the player invulnerable for xxx milliseconds to deter the death. Easy. You're welcome. "Good thing they nerfed the carto, it wasn't fun to find one in every map." - Haborym Last edited by monkuar#2123 on Jun 28, 2014, 8:23:00 PM

I am one of the hardcore players who believes firmly that "vaal NEVER legitimately walks". As long as, upon seeing him either walk (desyced slam) or raise fist (legit slam) i know that i must immediately run away perpendicularly. This keeps me safe every time.
It's another instance of older players yielding and accepting desync as a fact of life while potentil new POE fans are enraged at the primitive, cludgy code and quit the game in a huff. Hardcore

I've killed vaal many, many times in my career. I've completed something like 1,000 race events.
He does not walk, ever. If he starts walking to you, if you /oos he goes back to where he emerged from the ground... every time. I may have missunderstood, but I'm surprised that Mark is wrong about this point, that vaal walks or that its an "urban myth" that he doesn't. And this name is so bright and so sharp that the sign - it just blows up because the name is so powerful... It says, "Diamond Supporter."

" That is just how he re-syncs man, "If he starts walking to you, if you /oos he goes back to where he emerged from the ground... every time." this is just his own slice of dsync. just try it vaal can seriously just walk around and he does (very rarely) that's why oos during this fight is so fucking scary, how many times have I oos'ed myself back into into the range of his hammer, but yeah he LEGIT walks around its quite cute. hit me up @sarrow lets have fun :D Last edited by Sawm#7368 on Jun 29, 2014, 8:05:10 PM

" You dont seem to understand. He appears to walk, but OOS puts you into sync with the server, and the server is always right. Meaning he was never walking in the first place. Your client was just interpreting things incorrectly. He can desync re-emerging from the ground, as I've had him appear and I'm instantly at 10% life from being hit with a slam. This might be a very rare occurrence (twice in over 3 years of playing PoE), which might have a virtually negligible chance with the changes Mark is implementing.
