20/20 Gems are not affordable early on in a ladder, you're high as hell if you think otherwise. Especially with drop only gems or gems that are not easy to get to, especially in a HC league.


And it's not obligatory to RMT to play the game, but you'll be heavily struggling against other players that are competing for top spots in the ladder that are. You're at a severe disadvantage, and RMTing makes a big difference because a few pieces of gear make your character from barley surviving maps to facerolling them.

I am the OP of this thread. Can you please explain us, share your experience on how you managed to get 30-50ex worth gear in Ambush and domination?

1) How many exalted orbs found?
2) How many exalted orbs were obtained by chaos orbs and what was the ratio?
3) How many from fusings, etc...?
4) How many chaos/fusing/exalted were found every day with how much play?
5) How many days after ambush started you manage to get a 30 ex worth Soul Taker?

If you can answer the above questions I will learn a lot from your experience and I believe I will start farming more efficiently.

Ill give you an example of how to farm efficiently.

You run 2 weeks non-stop dominus, runs should take no longer then +-4 minutes and you should have around 150+- iir (minimum).

There a soul-taker, if you can actually sustain that mind-numbing task for that time.

(that's how one of my mates did it in invasion and he is "rocking" a soul taker + aegis aurora mainstream build now...)

And i am not kidding, 2 weeks of nothing but dominus around 6 hours a day, that's what he did.

Nono you got me wrong, he did not find a soul-taker and AA, he farmed dominus, sold gears for chaos, did the chaos recipe then transferred to exalts. And then he bought the soul-taker.

Like steadily farming up exalts as you will. Took him 2 weeks of steady farming without caving in.

I recommend maps when you're about to go insane from the Dominus runs.
If you manage to find some free but high maps, or 1 alc/1 chaos fee high maps, with a MF-er, you will have a nice loot and you'll gain experience, unfortunately it's not available at all times.

"Playing 3 weeks and having all gems 20/20" is not a surprise.
That's what you actually get when you play 3 weeks with heavy time investment.

All my gems were 20/20 too, after I played one character to 85 (then 20% recipe) and then another one to 90. Didn't take 3 weeks.

DpS like a 1-2 Exalt weapon, and with like 2-3 skillpoints and 1 ring affix you can substitute it in 3/4 of melee builds.

Like I wrote at the beginning of the thread:

But it's the expensive road.
You pay a shitton of Exalts for one Gem Swap.

I say:
Pay 5 chaos for a resist+manaleech ring and invest 2 skillpoints and support your 5 Link attack that way. Costs basically nothing and grants the same result.

So basically again someone is claiming that in 84 hours of play they farmed 30ex off dominus. Granted, at least this guy claims he had IIR, but IIR doesn't improve currency drop rates, it only helps with recipe making. Without IIR, you can go weeks without completing a recipe due to rings/amulets/belts, so I'm going to write the IIR down as negligable, and others on this thread have confirmed that.

You do know, you can have a shop up while running dominus right? Nothing prevents you from selling that 80life/dual resis pair of boots for 2/3 chaos instead of chucking it in your recipe right?

(and yes selling them for 2/3 chaos, which is considered cheap is the way to go. Chaos add up fast if you sell cheap, also you become "known" by people as a good shopkeeper with reasonable prices and they return to you for "bargains", thus increasing your wealth again.)

Believe what you want, i joined my mate for runs during those 2 weeks (sometimes an hour, sometimes two) and i simply could not manage to do it longer then two hours in a row. On the other hand, he could and he got rewarded for that. I don't mind, i get rewarded for other stuff and by other means. And it was fun doing some dom runs with him.

And occasionally, you drop an alpha's or a bino's kitchen knife or whatever. And you get a lucky spike in between all the chaos conversions.

Really man, you are delusional if you think you cant farm a soul taker in 2 weeks if you put your efforts to it.

(and no that's not me claiming there is no RMT lel, i am also just aware of ways to farm currency, aldo i rarely use them/need them)

Btw the 6 hours a day was an estimate, maybe he did 12 hours some day's (hes online a lot when he farms, i can imagine him doing such long strings of farming) maybe 6 hours another, i don't know. All i know is i joined him when i was online from time to time, and he never left "city of sarn + upper sceptre" in those 2 weeks. (also this was on hardcore)
