[2.0] THOR'S RAINBOWNUKE: DO ALL MAPS, UBER ATZIRI, AND EXPLOSIONS!

Just wanted to report my first deathless atziri run. I dare say once I get another level or 2 and level 21 gems I can see uber atziri being in the cards.

Lightning penetration is better for damage, particularly against bosses. I posted the math a while back in this thread - can't remember what page # off hand but it's in there. Only downside is the cost of a few chromatics to switch to life leech if needed.

Wow its been a while since I posted here...

Now that the Act 4 beta is underway, i went about researching to see what unique Jewels (that can be socketed into passive tree) will have a great benefit to the RainbowNuke build.

Here are few:

1.Specialised - Viridian Jewel - 4% increased Attributes per allocated Keystone, Limited to 1
:This gem looks good for build variations (such as mine) that run multiple Keystone passives. In my case (of 5 keystones), i gain 20% increased attributes, which makes gearing much easier. As such, you only need 344 str to equip mjolner. (rounded up)

2.Efficient Training - Crimson Jewel - Intelligence from Passives in Radius is Transformed to Strength
:This gem can really help you push out some extra str (in place of int), which also makes gearing much more flexible.

3.Conqueror's Potency - Crimson Jewel - 3% increased effect of Auras you Cast, 8% increased effect of Flasks, 4% increased Effect of your Curses, Limited to 1
:Great gem in general, rather straightforward, better auras, flasks and curses. Whats not to love.

4.Survival Instincts - Viridian jewel - +20 to Dexterity, +6% to all Elemental Resistances, Limited to 1
:Also straightforwardly great jewel that gives some nice dex and ele resist. Really convenient jewel.

Of course there are many other useful gems, like intuitive leap. I'm interested to hear y'all opinions regarding Jewels for this build.

Specialized and Conqueror's Potency are the two I suspect are really going to be useful. This build tends to have crazy high intelligence, so 20% extra INT is likely to be like 12-20% ES depending on how much you have on your gear.

I suspect that rare jewels with %spell dmg leeched as life will be highly desirable as well. If +% buff effect is available, that will be needed as well with the removal of inner force.

As long as they don't utterly crush Mjolner with nerfs, I suspect that this build is going to be just fine in permanent leagues.

I think it's also going to be important to try and run Wrath if possible... a flat more multiplier on your lightning damage o.O

Prepare for the nerf bat:
Spoiler

This is going to make picking up Charisma + running Wrath mandatory at high levels IMO.

I think it's likely that this nerf will be retroactive just like Acuity was, also, since it's a static value (not a range) being changed.

Of all the ways they could nerf this, I think this is the most appropriate. An internal cooldown like what they did with CoC would have been much worse.

Man oh man.....the 2.0 patch is really gonna shake up the Mjolner it seems. I agree completely that Wrath will almost be necessary for end-game content to be viable. With the decreased proc chance of mjolner from 50% to 30%, and the seemingly increased base attack of 1.15 from 1.05, you will proc your lightning skills 35% less often on average, so the "more lightning damage" multiplier is definitely mandatory.

Given the drop in DPS, it might be worth considering picking up something like Flame Golem (which gives 20% increased damage at level 20) or Rallying Cry. Spell Damage Leech Jewels may also become very potent, in order to provide extra survival. (Especially given how dangerous reflect is right now)

Overall, im feeling that Poe patch 2.0 will make the RainbowNuke much easier to gear, as its so much easier to get the necessary stats to equip mjonler straight from the passive tree and through good jewel usage. Yet, if the nerf to Mjolner is retroactive (which is very likely), then the build will become more dependent on auras like Wrath to have sufficient DPS.

All projectiles now behave like arrows. Multiple projectiles emitted at exactly the same time can no longer hit the same target.

And what about this? Wasn't it already affecting the number of procs enought? Or did i get it wrong?

I could be wrong, but I don't think that affects anything with this build. It may affect lightning strike vs single target, but I think lightning strike is already only counted as a single hit/proc on a single target. Molten strike's projectiles are not emitted at exactly the same time.
