A Veteran's Proposal for a Self Found League - Poll Included!

Individual's Gameplay Experience vs Trade Pyramid Focus

Please have a look at my suggestion post here about balancing the gameplay experience of the individual player without hurting the trade pyramid which GGG values very much.

Suggestion is a new very common orb that will reroll all affix/suffix with values that are more in line with itemlevel of that item, while making it no-trade. That way your junk drop with right type of mods but bad values can be turned into a worthy prize only for you.
I tried descent and loved it! It felt so challenging and new. But the competition and time limit scared me off. I hated feeling like a loser (or being reminded I am one) so to see everyone else so far ahead of me kinda killed the buzz.

@Charan: Cheer up!

edit: I don't know why, but Witt's post made me hungry for diablo so I took the night off and plan to have a full on grindfest on the new crusader tonight! I was not even planning to play RoS... the power of nostalgia!

The main issue of self found league is they need to redesign a version of the game intended for completely different type of gameplay and constantly rebalance it for all upcoming changes and have 2 versions of the game. Even then people will disagree what would be a "self found league." If you want a single player version of the game, the game isn't even done yet with 7 more acts to go. The game can completely radically change until then.

Literally it'll be easier to just have an offline version were people can mod.

It is nice... have to admit. The forced BoA seems a bit much, a necessary evil I suppose in our modern times. I am having just as much fun with Grim Dawn btw, which is in the *traditional* sense of an APRG, single player with multiplayer optional.
"the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."

Happy hunting/fishing
One only needs to
1)incentivize SFL for GGG (not hard)
2)guarantee SFL wont absolutely splinter the game beyond repair due to a mass exodus from standard and the death of non SFL

but perhaps standard was meant to eventually be a ghost town like HC anyways. There is simply too much rmt and corruption to repair at this point.

This might be unbelievable but D3 still has RMT and corruption with smart loot, and BoA. People simply care less because they believe nobody would do it anymore.

i guess the question is if rmt in d3 now hurts the game as much as rmt in poe now.

People pay other people to level them from 1-60, to get them paragon levels, for good rares, for crafting mats and gems, to follow them on torment 6 runs and get all of the legendaries/items that the other person gets ect.

As long as people care about the game, they'll put value on something they don't have to do themselves.

Having SFL because of RMT or people that can cheat is fruitless, might as well just make an offline version were people can hack it or mod it. You will never ever have a fair ladder.

One of the major selling points of D1 was free online multiplayer.

SFL isnt intended to completely stop RMT, only to make it less enticing and destructive.

though my motivations for wanting it will be different from others.
