Would you pay to have GGG focus exclusively on fixing the game issues but no new content?

"So, you want them to stop generating income to spend the income ( wich they stopped generating ) on... no wait, they stopped generating the income. Pro plan this, did you think of this yourself?"
It's not the players fault GGG is unable to budget there accounts properly. They have had more then enough time to save some funds to fix what matters the most to players..That the game is actually fucking playable with all specs/builds not just the desync friendly boring builds. Here is just 1 example of GGG's business model.Well around 40 to 50 % of our player base are all complaining about desync.Lets just design a few sick looking new helm skins and a few new spell gem effects and they will all be satisfied...We don't need solid game stability when we make your characters look like gods...

How would art and game design guys help fix desync? I don't think that you can do advanced programming with photoshop and 3DSM.

Men, i just cant understand why everyone complains, games are being sold by AAA companies with far worst issues than this, chargin 60 USD +DLC + subscriptions + the air you breath every minute you play + your soul if they can take that too, and this guys come with the best game iv seen since diablo 2, the most orginal game out there(economy, diversity of builds, skill gems, everything!) the charge you with 0 USD and let you play the FULL game + expansions and not only that, they upload content every day!!!!...men i wish i could work for them or give them millions to support this, they are trully gaming lords in my eyes. I think many many people herw should be thankfull they even exists, desync?? i dont care just keep working like this and you ll be in the rock and roll hall of fame of games, they are in mine already ,thats for sure.

Ick!

I lied about my video card.

It is not GTX 9800 (which is 5-year old, my previous video card).

It is GTX 570 which was released at 7 Dec 2010 according to Wikipedia.

Which makes it only 3 year 4 month old!

Time flies fast, apologies to all confused.

core i5 (4-way)
geforce gtx 570, 1280 MB VRAM
1920x1200 resolution
8 GB RAM

I don't care about new content, nor graphic fidelity. I just wish they'd fix some old parts of the game before adding new. I left a year ago, and come back to find that it's still 'Path of Life Nodes', but now it's also 'Path of Uniques'. They add a couple dozen skills, and only 2 or 3 have much use. Which is about the ratio of viablity:crap with their old skills, it seems. Just fix what's come before, stop adding uniques, maybe throw some more 'build enabling' unique mods into keystone passives. Get people playing totems and arc self casters and punishment necros. Looking at the updates, it seems that most every build I've used has been collateral damage of some OP builds nerf, making my builds unplayable (though possibly viable if I happen to have 5 or 10+ ex laying around for a unique).

So yeah, I already pay, but I wish they'd go through and fix all the potentially interesting, but worthless in practice stuff, and put less focus on requiring uniques to make builds work (with the corresponding global nerfs to gems/passives when the build works too well).
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.
What if we turn the question around?

"If you want to improve PoE performance, why aren't you providing as much support as you can?"

Honestly, if you believe that the technical performance issues are what is truly holding the game back from being, for you, the best game ever, then the least you can do is to pitch in the same amount of money that you would expect to spend on a AAA title of comparable content and gameplay value. You can even take the current technical issues into account when you do your "value calculus", maybe set aside the difference and provide it as support as/if/when your issues are addressed.

If you don't want to support the appearance MTX's, then don't purchase any with your support points. Not only does GGG give us the full game, free of charge, they give us little "thank you nuggets" in the form of points when we do support them. It is up to you what you do with them, if anything. If you really do care about the game, then the support you provide is what should matter, not the additional "thank you" that might come along with it. For the amount of money that you would spend on a AAA title you could net a tidy sum of "thank you" from GGG that further enhances your game experience.

Honestly, I highly doubt that GGG averages $45 USD/account (not player, account). Look at PoE, as it is, right now. It is at least $45 USD of value. They could easily get it if they really wanted to go that route, and sell the MTX to boot (although I would expect an expansion of character slots to 30 and 12 custom stash tabs as default if they were to charge for the base game like that). To go that route would have likely meant selling their souls to a AAA publisher, and I think we all know what kind of game we would have had then.

Note - I'm not wagging my finger at anyone that has supported, be it through a support pack or points purchases for MTX. I don't doubt that there are technical and code issues that GGG could address to provide the smoothest game play possible, but I also understand that any time you are attempting to maintain continuous data feed between devices that have other hops in between you are going to have occasional packet loss and latency issues THAT CANNOT BE ATTRIBUTED TO EITHER THE SERVER OR THE CLIENT. I understand that badly desynching can and does occur, it happens to me from time to time (mostly when my connection is iffy due to my ISP), but I can't see it or the other (what I consider minor) technical issues keeping me from providing support to the developers.

Note also - I almost play on a toaster/potato. Over the weekend I made a "major purchase" and spent $100 USD on an SSD to put into my Core2Duo @ 3.07 (OC of stock 2.6) w/ 4GB DDR2 RAM + Radeon HD4850. I play the game, in medium-high settings, and get 20-ish FPS in full parties (sometimes with two summoners) and 60 FPS solo. After the SSD upgrade any in-play loading (skeleton summoning, strong box opening, Dominus transitions) is hardly noticeable, such a difference that I still have not fully adjusted my play to it. My average ping is 60, yes I spike from time to time, and yes I have periods where there is no communication but my client stays active (I call it "flatline ping", I attribute it to my ISP), but for 90% or more of my play time I average 60. There can't be that many technical issues for someone with a clean, modern, gaming system and decent network, there just can't.
Hey Russell, can you please explain why the game's performance is so shaky with Radeon cards? I mean stuff like this while I'm just running around in town:

I never had this issue with my (considerably slower) Nvidia card.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

To long didn't read: Read the thread title

I was just reading some other threads and from what I understand GGG claims that they cannot fix the desync and lag issues that plague the game. That it is impossible, or at the very least beyond their capabilities. This may very well be the case, but from the responses I've read and from my own limited knowledge of programming it could be possible to fix the engine if they worked at it or perhaps hired an expert(s) to do so, perhaps even transferring it to another more stable game engine.

The only problem with this is that it would take time, and they would not be able to focus on new content, which brings on new players and revenue for them to keep going. I like new content but I'd like a game relatively free of the issues it currently has. Now I know they won't be able to ever get rid of all the lag/desync issues as that is the nature of online games, but I feel that if even half the issues were resolved myself and many others would be satisfied.

Basically what I am proposing is instead of using the money from the store and packs to create new content they use it to focus exclusively on fixing the games issues, along with hiring an expert programmer(s) perhaps. Would you as a customer support them knowing that there won't be new content for some time but that eventually the desync and lag issues would be fixed?

Just want to know others opinions and thoughts, particularly the hardcore players and those who have purchased the more expensive supporter packs.

Nope. Game issues are fairly good, all things considered.

They only had nvidia to test on, afaik.

Wow, bold words for a completely FREE game. When I hear "free" game I always wonder how they will make you put money into the game. This is the very first "free" game I've played where you can thoroughly enjoy ALL of the game w/out paying 1 penny. Then guys like you complain about it....
