Would you pay to have GGG focus exclusively on fixing the game issues but no new content?
" 110% agree. No i'm not a "white knight" and I certainly would have some ideas of how to possibly make the game a tad better, but I'm not about to start QQ'ing about how things work on a 100% FREE game. Like you said, many issues that are in this game are in 95% of games in which you pay $60+, have a monthly fee, AND have to pay for future expansions and downloadable content. None of that here, yet we cry like lil babies because its not 100% perfect. New's flash!! If you asked 400 players what they should do to make this server better you would get 400 different responses. What is one players "fix" is another players "nerf". They will NEVER please everyone. |

Personally I would not be opposed to them holding off new content to fix some existing issues. I think if they were to slightly delay some new stuff, and fix the more common issues or improve on things that really need improving, this will only make the future content that much better.
But like they have said in the past this is a 10 year project, balance will constantly change and there will be bugs. There are definitely issues right now I would love to see addressed, and while I might feel "omg this needs fixing nao!" I'm sure GGG will address most of these issues in future patches. What I want to pay for is my own self-found private league. |

No way!
I pay enough through transactions of my own free will because I love the content and I like to support the game.... even though I never received my keychain or t-shirt :'( Anyways, I think they are doing fine as it is. What would more money allow them to do that they can't do already? It's impossible to fix desynch. | |
If we could turn off features fucking up the GPU Load that would be great but no.
We must have 90% GPU Load on minimal settings.... |

" A 570 is a lot better than a 9800; but it's still showing it's age now. The general rule of thumb is that if you want to keep playing games at about the same settings you need to buy a new card every other year. Your current card is getting to the point where playing at native resolution is becoming questionable. A 10 month old 770 is about 2.3x faster. NVidia's started releasing mobile parts from it's next generation GPU; and if the performance gains achieved there carry over to desktop cards the upcoming 870 will be about half again as fast as the 770 or 4x as fast as your 570. Because NVidia's Maxwell GPUs should start being available before too much longer, I hesitate to suggest buying a new card now; but once the 870 hits the market you should plan on buying one quickly. That or accept having to run more games below native resolution and/or at low quality settings to keep your FPS up. Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful? |

I hear a lot of you saying "why not just hire more people to work on the graphics problems". We actually did about 4 months ago. It took us 2 and a half years to find someone then a year to get him over here to nz. Then after 3 months he left because he just wanted to work on his own engine. However in that 3 months he was here he improved the fps by around 40-50%. I dont know if anyone remembers that but yeah.. The first thing we got him on was optimising the engine.
Now the problem we face is trying to hire someone good enough again. If we could hire from over seas easy peazy we would probably have a new programmers by now. However we have the whole : You have to first look around and prove there isnt someone good enough in nz. Then you may go through the one year process of trying to hire someone from overseas. It frigin suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks . It not easy to find graphics programmers with a lot of xp lying around with no job. Oh about the frame drops on amd cards im not sure. I have a amd and dont experience any lag myself. However a large portion of our people at work do work on nvidia I believe. Though I think youll find its the same with most company's. Amd have kind of moved over to the console market now for most of their income. I believe Jonathan tried getting in contact with them for some optimisation advice and he just got ignored. " dayam, you got a guy in, he worked on your system for 3 months and improved on it by 40-50%...wtf. That's some GG programer. Bring him back at triple pay for another 3 months, he might fix desync lol (yes, I know how syncing works in POE...) |

" So why not outsource it to a separate company? |

You cant just outsource programming like you can art. We outsource where we can. You have to have an understanding of how our engine works and all that to work with it. Also having someone work on something that can straight up break the game not in the office is incredibly dodgy. Not to mention they could potentially gap off with the code.

They would rather tell you to rewrite the engine than steal the code.
PoE uses really basic modern c++ anybody with some RE understanding can see it. I would rather see the option not to show stuff. My GPU isn't a radiator! Many players think like that and because they think like that they will prevent stuff from loading by modifying code. I don't want to see rain effects they don't even look good. I don't want to see alt Art skills by other players, they turn the game into a Disco more than the old auras did. I don't want to skills cast an eternity ago 3 screens away by another player. |
