I'm Unhappy I Put As Much Money As I Did In This Game
" Very perceptive, you probably also noted how much effort went into making elemental builds fiddly, underpowered or just plain annoying to play, since CB. And not surprising, elemental attackers get most of their damage from auras and caster get most of it from gems. Which means they're much less gear dependent in general, and you can't have that in a trade-centric game, it's bad for business. Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

" Or a reason to leave. But what fealty PoE economies will do then? What GGG whiteknights will do without mindless peasants farming easy zones? Do they steps from maps heights to farm Docks for alterations shards? Anticipation slowly dissipates...

The drops in D3 are still complete garbage. The only reason you get anything is because of the safety net they put in where you're guaranteed to get a legendary after a certain amount of time. I've never found ANYTHING outside of that designated time(it's 2-4 hours I don't know).
It's common knowledge that it's path of trade maybe on this forum and other communities which make up, what, 0.1% of the PoE playerbase? Less? More? But outside of that I have several friends who never trade and I myself rarely, if ever, trade. If you want to be a competitive player then yes, you need to trade. It's a no brainer that you use every resource available to be competitive. But the majority of players are not competitive, I'm not competitive anymore, so there's no need to trade unless you're part of the significant minority that wants to be at the top of the ladder. Several of the people I see complaining about trading don't even play hardcore or participate even semi-frequently in races. How many of these people have ever gambled? Most of the time you get nothing for what you put in, if you're lucky you'll break even, if you're absurdly lucky you'll hit the jackpot. The vast majority of gamblers will never ever hit a jackpot in their life, and yet they continue to gamble from time to time. Anybody who gambles expecting to win is considered an idiot by any sane individual, but people do it because they enjoy it and appreciate the potential for what they could get out of it. I don't really know what people are expecting, I enjoy the process of thinking of a build that kills things well and then killing those things, the gear just helps that goal along. There are only very few builds that actually require very difficult to find gear, but in the meantime there are tons of builds that don't require that at all. " ? They literally just doubled the spell damage and elemental damage nodes in the starting caster trees and the caster trees are next in line for a new pass, the aura changes were a massive buff to ele wanders(my build at least), and they added several extremely powerful vaal gems that scale like crazy with elemental. " That's not true. Blizzard increased the size of Durance of Hate level 2 to combat bots several times even to an abnormal size in 1.10. The sorc was only used for teleport mf. Sure in 1.09 Naijs could be used for teleport if there weren't that repair bug if you had like 4 charges left it was impossible to repair it even on level 99 because the repaircost was over 3,5 million. " But I like hybrid builds, that's something impossible in PoE aside Main attack and an addition. Try to create a melee caster or a Ranger with Melee Abilities. This is just impossibleto have both abilities on an equal level. |

"Good to know there's a chore I have to complete before I'm even allowed to experiment with builds, whether that be trading, grinding or leveling up a build I have to alt-tab for before I spend any skill points or choose quest rewards. |

" Hybrid builds in this game will absolutely never work until they figure out they need to have dedicated hybrid nodes (something like say, 8% IAS + 8% ICS combined hybrid node vs 12% IAS or 12% ICS for specialist). Even then, skills won't be super complimentary. |

guess the white knight has arrived.
and speaking in the case of hardcore (invasion), it is impossible NOT to trade if you want to progress far. and by far i mean at least lvl 70-80. sure you can do any tom dick harry build in softcore with all blue gear and still do mapping, but nobody is just going to settle for mediocrity in hc when survival is of utmost importance. even the guy that did pure blue run in nemesis last season is forced to trade for insane blues which are like better than 95% of rare drops in order to reach high hp and capped resist |

" You actually can have those builds now with the trigger gems, dagger shadows with cast on crit is an insanely strong combo and you can benefit a good amount from caster nodes and attack nodes. But outside of the trigger gems, the real reason hybrid builds have never worked is because there aren't really any actual hybrid skills. All of the skills that are supposedly hybrid are significantly slanted one way or the other, EK for example is "hybrid" but it doesn't get any benefit at all from any sort of attack scaling. It just so happens to scale with physical damage, but a lot of physical damage increases are specific to the weapon. if EK scaled with attack speed instead of cast speed then you could do something like EK for AoE and double strike for single target. If there was a skill that scaled equally with spell damage and attack damage, with the skill doing different things for each part, like the single target portion of the skill being spell damage with an AoE using attack damage. " Yeah lets make it so any shadow can be just like any other shadow without any barrier of entry. " Typical argument from someone who has no argument. Obviously you haven't read anything I've posted so it's clearly not worth addressing you beyond this. Last edited by Septile#3881 on Mar 12, 2014, 7:55:01 AM

"Why not? Is that too casual for you? Are you of the opinion that I'm not allowed to enjoy my builds unless I "earn" them? |

It is always the same thing people don't understand. Loot/upgrades has to be limited at some point. Either you go the D3 way where everyone had everything (and this will be the case with new patch/expansion again) and there are barely any upgrades for you that you can find (but you feel strong as you have all) or you go PoE way where things are scarce and you can find upgrades but they are so rare that you wont likely have them as a drop after a few days.
In either way if you don't enjoy grinding/trading for the limited chance to find an upgrade the game is over for you at this point. In D3 it is all about improving a 75% all res innas pants to a 78-80% one. In PoE it is about finding a certain item at all, no matter which stats. I doubt the D3 system is more enjoyable. It is quite casual where everyone uses the same skill and same items for it. Difference is just a few % of a roll on it between different players. Last edited by LSN#3878 on Mar 12, 2014, 8:18:19 AM
