Why have you stopped playing?

Because laptop overheats
I had fun planning a CoC build after Barrage came out, but then I realized I need a 5L voll's in order to complete it. Hundreds of jewelers later gave me the realization that maybe I should take a break.

Everyone in my group of friends has quit playing due to desync and I've made the decision to quit as well for the same problem. PoE is a fantastic game and the issues with desync are my one and only complaint.

Desync renders this game completely unplayable for me, even though my ping is always super fast. It's frustrating to teleport into a mob/half way across the map or die and have idea how it happened, losing all of the progress you've made towards reaching the next level. I used to be able to ignore it, but it seems like it has just been getting worse. /oos does nothing for me.

Even moreso, it's frustrating at how indirect GGG has been about fixing this issue or how much this problem seems to get downplayed on the forums. I've been reading a lot of posts saying that to solve it they would have to entirely rewrite the game. It makes you wonder why QC didn't identify this as an issue earlier and repair it then instead of just plugging away until the only solution is to restart from scratch.

I wish there was at least an offline mode or LAN play available so that I could enjoy this game. I've put about $30 towards stash tabs, but really wish I would have put that money towards Grim Dawn instead.
Haven't played for months now, however i constantly look at the site for news. Every time i think about making a new char i realize that at certain point (around lvl70) the item progression will fail, and i should sit in the town trading in my whole day to get items in which i can handle endgame content. Now here is the question: why i should play if i have "everything" in my char, and without that i can't handle nothing from the content.

Then i remember that the game was designed around one shot mechanics, and with every major patch low tier endgame bosses get constantly buffed to the point where it's not even worth engage them, high level maps (72+) are like impossible to drop, you can again trade for them.

And the top of that, there is this pseudo-developement going on this game...how long we have to beg for fixing these things? They do nothing about this, we get new kind-of-useless skill gems and items just to tell us "we did it". Untested, unbalanced new bosses and reworks at some bosses. BUT we have new microtransaction items! YAY! I won't buy any of those, even if i'll buy something is more stash tabs.

And some words about this horrible community, especially in the forums: i've never met such a bad community in any game, i know i'll be flamed by fanboys in no time, they won't read my whole post and will reply with some troll comments or in 1-2 words. No intelligent conversations going on here. Nor the fanboys, nor the developers seems to understand that there is something wrong with the game, otherwise there wouldn't be so much "whining", however you (the fanboys) often call EVERYTHING that's not praise the game whining.
The usual reaction to these kind of post is "go play d3", you know what? I did played the PTR, and i was amazed by how much better, friendly and helpful the community was there.

If you really think this game is so much better than d3, then look inside and make yourself a worthy community member of this game by not flaming other players posts, be helpful, argue in an intelligent way.
"I'm programmed to say something that is kind and uplifting at this point, but there is apparently an error that is working in my favor."
I was just about to make a thread about why i havent been playing and why i might consider stopping. Been playing off and on for a while now and here is why.

Ive had well over 10 level 70+ characters ive deleted for space, all of which were failed build tests. Testing builds and getting the gear for them, as well as leveling is too tedious, time consuming and expensive. The unexpected Aura change alone ruined quite a bit of my characters when 1.0 hit.

This is coming from someone who played World of Warcraft for 7 years, completed Naxx and Sunwell when they were current content (The two hardest raids in mmorpg history), soo i know very well the effort it takes to grind gear, find successful builds, and do tedious things all the time in a game.

Most of the reason new builds dont come out is because of the huge amount of time consumption and currency it takes to test them, which is why everyone still uses the basic cookie cutter builds. Theres hardly any variation in builds because most of the builds can be used on any character, and work just as well.

It takes a long time just to hit 70-80, generally when a build is complete, ontop of that you have to get all the gear you need. Reusing characters for new builds is completely unrealistic because youd end up spending fortunes on Orbs of Regret.

Ive yet to find a fun and unique playstyle that actually works. Infact i could argue that the way this games mechanics work, make it near impossible to find anything fun and unique to play.

Want to play a Freeze Trap Glacial Hammer Templar ? Sounds good on paper but you cant because you wont put out enough damage, or you wont have enough survivability, or you wont have enough mana to sustain the build, etc. The list goes on and on really... Sometimes i dont even think its about the complexity of the game, i think theres just too much you have to try to manage to have something fun and endgame viable.

Not being able to test builds just kills it for me in soo many ways.
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

Labyrinth salt farm miner.

"But my build diversity" , "Game is too hard!" - Meta drone playing the same 1-3 builds for years.

Two of the most fun parts of an ARPG is great loot and crafting. PoE failed in both and I refused to use the prehistoric trading system. When I kill unique bosses, I expect to be rewarded. Instead, all I got was junk after junk.

Where GGG failed is to make end-game more rewarding, both drops and crafting are a part of that.

Loot drops = 99,999999% is junk. You dont profit from Dominus by getting some awesome item. You profit by getting thousands of trash items that you vendor for alterations -> fusings -> exalts.

Orb drops = what orb drops? Never saw an eternal, I've been playing many months. Had 2 exalts drop, 1 divine, 0 eternal. Even the low-end currency drops suck. Back to vendoring thousands of trash items for alts, then back to trade chat to get the currency you want.

Crafting = what crafting? Oh, you mean completely random gambling? We have that, for sure, but no crafting.

I havent stopped playing and I'll keep playing, in the process of leveling a new build and I already have another I wanna do...but what I found with all the builds I made so far is that game becomes unrewarding once you reach lvl 75-80 and have decent gear. There is simply very little to play for after that and above mentioned reasons is why. XP isnt a reason to keep playing either, because it's pointlessly hard to level up, you can only spend so many hours trying to level up before you realize you're just wasting your time. GGG keep putting up these artificial obstacles in player's way but without giving you something in return. Players want to be rewarded for their efforts.

I'm not sure how to relate this to PoE. I found WoW to be one of the most time consuming, less rewarding and tedious games ever. You argue against PoE while at the same time mentioning WoW as an opposite(?)
Might it be a good thing that you, because you like WoW, do not like PoE?
