New Chisel Recipe is Lame

Wish the recipe included Rock Breakers and Gavels, since they're the same item base and something that higher level players will come across in the higher level zone farming that they do.

Doesn't help RMT. You still need maps

Well that is sorta like saying they aren't helped by exalts because you still need items to exalt....

pretty much anything will help them if they can sell them for cash I would think.

Questions are: how much will it be of benefit to the average player when they actually end up needing to use it? or will it change nothing except where we're grinding for chisels?

edit - on a side note, I'm not sure that chisels are the kind of item that would really flood the market if they increased ways to get them as more of them in circulation would likely just make us still use them as fast as we get them... at least I know that I pretty much never have them laying around anymore post level 70 mapping or trade any away, no matter how many I get I still need more to chisel maps I have....

I don't see it much better than the current chisel recipe. The people it benefits the most are those not running maps.

Every recipe probably has some 'benefit.' This one is just a very topical and pointless recipe. I still don't see too many high level mapping parties bothering to trade for stone hammers, since they're massive and you can only acquire so many at a time. You might as well trade your chaos for chisels directly.

And let's not pretend like people are going to take breaks from their mapping parties to go farm normal ledge.

Even the RMT bots will probably find picking up stone hammers to be an utter waste of time.
Why couldn't it be ANY hammer is my question -.0

I simply mean, it will generate at least one more chisel than are currently in circulation, ergo it is more beneficial than not having the recipe at all.

That, and at least, I can see potential for low level / low wealth farmers to extract a few extra chaos net from their normal merveil runs. I mean, you can buy what, 8 level 66 maps for a chaos? So with 1 chaos invested, a player who does not expect to gain much from elsewhere, can at least collect the resources to craft 2-3 chaos profit. For someone who looks forward to ~30 alts + 5 chance orbs income per hour, that's pretty sweet.

Of course, I do also agree it would be more useful to add Rock Breakers and Gavels, as that's more base hits for a mapper to find and squeeze out an extra chisel from. Just so long as the recipe continues to include Stone Hammers as well, because that means potential for chaos moving down the food chain, from those with the means to those without. That's a rarity worth keeping around imo. These are exactly the sort of things I'd like to see new recipes do (granted, of course, they add the other two Stone Breaker base types to the recipe).

It feels just like some bandaid idea they thought about at coffee brake.

I'd rather see that patch 1.05 brings nothing and they come up with something more interesting for the endgame chisel problem in patch 1.06 or even later. Something that would make the map rolling & rewards more dynamic (eg: specific map crafting for gear loot finding or for map drops, ie. XP progression). Because chisels are just a no-brainer thing you do because you have to.

I believe that was the point. It's something that isn't found commonly (although still drops) in maps. So you can still get them. Meanwhile, there *will* be farmers who will help to increase chisel production for ya mappers.

It also has a theme to it.

Oh there is a huge surprise...SL4Y3R with yet another naive pro-GGG post. C'mon man, just wow. I really do not believe there is anyone else on these forums that is more consistently pro-anything-and-everything-GGG. Just don't think that is possible, lol.

The recipe is retarded. It rewards mindless farmers, which feels a lot like a korean MMORPG. I will also say it doesn't surprise me in the least given the game choices and development choices that have been made. They are milking as much out of the game as possible, but in the end they are just going to drive the player base to something else. So sad :(

Ever think he posts against his personal feelings to balance out the ridiculous opinions thrown around this forum all the time?

Look at what you said. You just connected a new chisel recipe, which we are all just disappointed because it won't be used often, to the player base quitting. I don't really agree with what he said but suddenly I'm on your team and feel foolish.
