I cant really understand why ppl are against a sfl.?
What the hell , I would pay a monthly fee for one..
And it would be the only "fair" ladder..Same conditions for everybody , no shortcuts.
I dont really care about increased droprates etc....

The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced I would join a SLF even if it didnt have increased orb drop rates. Lottery crafting sucks anyway

Casuals can have their pretend hardcore shopping ladders...

Okay, then don't complain that you can't find GG best items in the game ever in 72+ maps.

Dafaq?

Like I said the option is there if you want to buy your very own custom craft special snowflake league.

- This thread is not a poll, at least no more. It just a discussion about SFL
- There is already an old SFL discussion where people are still arguing here http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/324242
- No dev gave a response to a 120 page thread that is goin on since 8 months ago
- So IMO when they will be ready to announce something they will do that in the homepage
- Also IMO the probability of the custom paid league bein introduced (finally) is far more high than a SFL
- I think this thread is redundant and can be closed

Have a nice day everybody.

Crafting is designed to be a currency sink. It is working as intended. Why would GGG in a ARPG where you find loot, design crafting to be more successful then trading or grinding?

Maybe so that orbs aren't just used as gold like any other game. What is the problem with people wanting to actually use orbs? I have multiple pieces of gear that I would like to 5L and guess what? I have wasted more orbs than it would have taken me to just trade for them. That feels dumb as hell to me.

it's what many players are all about now : I'm playing a game designed according to what the devs want the game to be. I don't like it, and if the game is not like I want to, it's badly designed, so I'm whining on the official forums to have what I want.

Im getting De Ja Vu for real right now. This is exactly what people said against looting options. Honestly you have less reason to be against a SFL than those people had against looting options. A self found league would have no real affect on you whatsoever while looting options did change the game a bit for those people.

Anyway, I wouldn't really say the game is badly designed, its just designed to be ultra easy if you choose to flip items instead of just playing the game. I don't know about you but that feels really strange to me. ARPG's are the only video games I've ever played where you can get whatever you want without even participating in the actual game.

I've got a lvl 60-something ranger right now on Merciless, about to take on Vaal. As I said before I haven't traded for a single iota of gear/currency/anything. Here's how things drop for a SF player:

Whites: I run past 5ls now, and only pick up 6s. 5ls are worth a scrap of wisdom, and 6s are worth a half dozen jewelers. I find about two 6s a day, which means for the 5 hours or so I played I earned 2-4 fuses which (of course) means my bow is still not 6l and likely never will be at this rate. If I run into a 6s/6l bow then I will have a reason to use all the alchs I have.

Magics: I pick up blue flasks in the hope of a Surgeon's to get another alch shard.

Rares: drop all the time, and 99.9% of them are useless and get vendored. I keep some that have decent stats and at least 4 linked slots when they drop. I vendor the rest which amounts to perhaps 5 alchemy shards, and x amount of crap orbs. Equip-worthy rares are getting more and more hard to find the more I progress.

Uniques: I found about 3 uniques on Normal and Cruel, 5 on merciless alone. I'm an archer so only one of them has any use to me which were Aurseize from my Cruel playthrough. I did find a quill rain last night which is more of a novelty item than being useful at this point in the game.

Obviously I disagree that it's impossible to progress through the game without trading. It's 100% possible at least up until the end of Act 2 merciless. Maps are a different story.

Anyways, as many people have pointed out I can simply continue to play this way if we don't get a SFL. However, if we did get a SFL with adjusted drop rates I would of course prefer to play there.

Am I making the game more difficult for myself? Well, I didn't feel that way when I played self-found on D2 and every other ARPG out there. Obviously since trading is such an integral part of the game people who like to play self found have their work cut out for them. It means a lot of grinding to level up where I can take on bosses with low level gear. That also means that since I'm 5-10 levels above the map level my drop rates get lowered as well. So, since the drop rates are lowered I have to grind more, which means more and more I progress every map has lowered drop rates too. This compounds on itself.

Why don't I trade then? I thought the whole lure of these types of games was finding loot, not buying loot. D2 (and others) kept me coming back to find more. PoE is different in that at some point players need to be rewarded for playing, but it rarely happens. When the game fails to deliver that addictive "I want to find more good stuff" experience, players can either quit, stick it out, or go to the trade chat.

Do I need a SFL? No. But I want it. Do you need a hardcore league? No. But, you want it, too. It's just another option for playing the game, and when people are shitting all over a proposed option for absolutely no reason other than e-peen shrinkage then I have a problem with that. If there's any more reason to not have to deal with this community in trade it should be the kind of dickish responses we see here in this thread.

I vote A
I have always wanted SFL, it seems amazing especially if its hardcore. I have always played basically self-found, or at least tried to. The part I hate the most about PoE playing like this, is that MOST builds are impossible to put together unless you have been playing for an insane amount of time and have huge lists of gear that you need in your stash. Because of this I was forced to buy specifically gems and uniques to use as a base for my build. My idea is that in this league gems and build-specific uniques should drop more often, even going as for to have them as quest rewards. Wouldn't it be great if you could guarantee being able to create a facebreaker build if it was a reward in act 3 merciless? Maybe even having soloing merciless Dominus actually meaning something finally? This may be too much, but higher unique drop rate and a larger selection of quest reward gems is imo something that is really needed in such as a league.
