Latency from Australia - Unacceptable.

I'm having big problems from NZ with American gateway. With Orcon. Using TCNZ there are also big problems loading the website from time to time, but I can't game test with this connection.

I complained to Orcon, but they wanted me to spend heaps of time trying to pinpoint the fault on their network for them, but don't troubleshoot for ISP's though, not since back in the day.

Problem does seem to be with a backbone provider however, not Orcon, networklayers.com seems very sus.

Talking with some American players atm, same problems.
Networklayer.com must be having a fault or something today, I'm trying to see what I can find from them, in terms of a network status page or something.

So, do they publish maps of the backbone running across the world?

Curious to see what the internet physically looks like.

The U.S., particularly Western U.S. had the same problem about 2 years ago. One of the main fiber channels coming in from the ocean to Cali/AZ area was cut into two - took about 5 days for them to fix it. Was the biggest mess ever as I had 20+ hospitals resorting back to dial-up internet and satellite phones(most used VOIP phones) to continue operations. fun stuff.

Anyone having major lag and disconnect issues?
Connect to US server, ping is usually 220ms but spikes to 1000ms and then disconnects.
pings time out to their servers every 3rd or 4th ping from within windows.
Packet loss everywhere. Doesn't happen with other games.

I am from Perth W.Aust and i am getting bad lag to Asia and America :(

How are you guys checking latency?
