Latency from Australia - Unacceptable.
I used to get sub 150ms latency with Singapore gateway, however lately the quality of the connection to the gateway/ servers is decreasing the closer we get to OB.
I currently get a better connection to the servers using the American gateway than i do using the Singapore gateway - and im from PERTH, Western Australia. Lately I've been getting 300ms+ with constant spikes (like i said earlier ; i used to get sub 150ms) I simply will not play PoE anymore if things do not improve with time, 300ms+ in a ARPG is unacceptable - f2p or not. Call me old fashioned but i simply will not spend money on a product that doesn't appropriately support its customers and while PoE is primarily F2P is does support pay store/options. Look here GGG, i honestly love your product but i can't help but feel a bit of deja vu as Australian and NZ players continue to get the short end of the stick when it comes to online gaming. Now, im not saying this to be negative or for the sake of it, i simply want to bring light to this issue. Networking issue > everything else. ( IMO ) |

I have the same issue with Singapore gateway (best option for me). I think many others are having it too.
I believe GGG will look into it soon. Can't blame them now since OB is so close, many things to prepare for. Strange, Ages did not change this Place

I've no issues at all here - 150ms with Internode via Sydney.
Who is your ISP? |

I'm in Perth, with iiNet and normally get around 60-70ms from the SG server, SOMETIMES (like tonight) it can spike a bit. Was going to clear Vaal when suddenly I was getting 400-600ms O_o
I tried reconnecting to the server but to no avail, sadly I went and played Far Cry 3 instead. These spikes don't happen too often and I assume it's due to server maintenance or traffic etc. I'm pretty happy to get what I get considering Diablo 3 was almost unplayable and every FPS I play is riddled with lag (except BF3 when it first came out and had ample Perth servers, but BLOPS 2 on Xbox is unplayable right now). So, I'm not fussed with the odd spike. My main ping issue is making a party, specifying it's on the SG server and USA people come and lag me out :( | |
I’m in NZ and my ping to the Singapore server is really great around 160ms as opposed to 260 – 280ms from the American server.
I’d say it is a problem with your ISP, or the data packet is being sent to Singapore via America. RIP Bolto

From what I have been reading elsewhere, a few days ago we lost our link to the Singapore submarine link, traffic was going the long way around through London as our Sydney to Hong Kong submarine link also happens to be down... So far as I know, we are currently being routed via Japan to get to Singapore which is causing massive latency.
I do not know when this will be fixed... my ping to Singapore is currently about the 400ms which is almost unplayable to be honest. |

FWIW I'm in Perth too but have had very few problems in the couple months I've been playing now, and none recently.
Not trying to downplay your issues - it must be frustrating - but server costs in Aus are ridiculous by all accounts, so I wouldn't be holding out for a closer server than Singapore in the near future .. |

Could you post the output of 'tracert 216.12.203.90' from a cmd.exe command line? Would make it easier to troubleshoot your connection problems.

We're aware of the Australia->Singapore problems and have let our ISP know. They say they already know about it and have told the other ISPs involved (who also know about it). There was no estimate of when it'd be fixed, and there's nothing we can do about it, unfortunately. Hopefully it's soon, though, I imagine a lot of their other customers are also pretty angry.

There are issues with the cable between Perth and Singapore. This iiNet Fault Notice has some details.
