About to stop playing PoE - maps drop rates are very disappointing

Again we're discussing rebalancing the map system around it existing in a vacuum where it is the only end game content.

End game contend based off itemization works because they provide iiq bonuses that (currently non existent) equally leveled content do not provide. For that system to work, maps need to be exclusive. The solution is not more vendor recipes or even further increased drop rates or guaranteed drops, it's waiting for non-exclusive end game content to be released. If the OP et al had continuous access to alternative content, we'd be having a much different conversation.

Would be a shame if we continuously encourage current content to be balanced around an incomplete game. Then we have ill conceived and half functioning systems in place once the holes are filled in at a later date, when its those holes that are the "problem" in the first place.

Pretty much agree with that, other options for end game, custom leagues, turbo, etc. and I wouldn't have too many issues.

As it is, I haven't played the game in over a month because I am rather bored with the content and will quite honestly never put up with the current map system. It'd require some pretty major changes for me to get interested in that again, some of those changed I'd expect to happen, others not so much.
Ever since the .12d patch (i think), I have had no problem maintaining level 60-62 maps on either of my two iterations of the same and only character i play.

The problem begins with the fact that with both (level 73 duelist, level 64 duelist) - I have not ever dropped a single map higher than level 64. Of level 63 and 64, i probably dropped a dozen at best.

While i understand and agree with many of the reasoning given here, I think it's a bit odd to never even have access to the highest difficulty parts of the game. What should stop me from repeating it endlessly for currency/loot is the DIFFICULTY itself, Not my ability to even access it.

At least, That's my 2 cents on the issue (If my country used any kind of cents :P).
Playing a dual-wielding swordsman of some kind.
In game name is Kaosu and/or ChaosBlade.
Loot quality generally is very bad, at least for me. For some reason I got three uniques during one hour once, but after that I haven't really found anything useful. During last ~12 hours of gameplay, I have found only ONE alch/chaos orb. Right now I'm struggling to stay alive with my current blueish gear :/
