About to stop playing PoE - maps drop rates are very disappointing
No. No. No.
No guaranteed anything. No same level none greater. Fix the way IIQ is configured as has been discussed before. -resists and =light for example should not be 1+1 |

while it's still not good enough data I ran white maps for a few weeks and recorded my results here if you want to get a mild idea on drop rates. (very mild)

Dumb question: did you run the maps with 0% iq/ir ?
my experience: lvl 80 70%iq 0%ir, ~~ 3 maps above 67 and I usually aim for decent rolls Unavailable got a few 67+ like this but no progress in lvl and I only have 1 65 and 64 atm I can only thank mrDDT for a gift of a few rares 63/64 otherwise I would have stopped earlier Last edited by Pam#2190 on Dec 19, 2012, 9:36:11 AM

I have done ~75 maps mostly 60-62 @ ~30%. I am at +21 maps currently including one 64 and two 65s - having to return to farming pyramids twice early on in the process.
I think this is quite fine. As I have not done many 60+% maps I think the three 64+ maps is quite (maybe even a little too) generous. I will however reiterate two points; 1) There is NO reason why L60 maps cannot be more common. It is much more encouraging to see map drops often and 60s will not obscure the prevalence of high level maps in any way. 2) It is quite hard to keep a steady stream of maps when you get your first character through the game; maps are hard, maps don't drop too often, your gear is weak. At some point the scale tips very fast, and low level maps becomes very easy and you can run harder maps and get more map drops per map. L60 maps even becomes old quite fast, but then you have a supply ready for your next toon (or to give to a new player to try out). As a consequence of this I urges GGG (again) to increase drop rate of 60 (and 60 only) maps - there is ALOT of good reasons to do so. [Standard league - UTC +2]

I haven't read any of this thread and don't plan to there's one every couple weeks. I think people find 1-3 maps start running them and wonder why they ran out.
Watch how races work and talk to guys who are in the top 10 of them all the time. They all tend to do the same thing depending on their luck. They get finished with act 2 around 53-57, then head to fellshrine and lvl until 63-70 gathering whatever they feel is enough maps for them never have to farm act 2 for maps again, some say 5, personally I think 10 is better. Then they take their higher lvl toon to kill vaal at a lower risk (HC afterall) then do maps until the race ends. You can easily go 5 maps without a single one dropping but you can also get 20 over the course of 5. RNG is a bitch but making everything standard and boring takes the fun out of it. If you get one map every time then finding 5 isn't a big deal. D3 listened to everyone complain that rare mobs weren't dropping rare items. Next thing you know guaranteed rare item. Farming became even more boring because there was no variable to worry about. Find rare pack, kill it, find useless rare, repeat until you fall asleep or throw up because you are allowing yourself to keep doing this shit. Leave RNG random, the fun and excitement comes from being rewarded much more than you should, getting screwed makes the enjoyment even better. Finished 17th in Rampage - Peaked at 11th

I still don't understand how this can be an issue. If you're still constantly running out of maps after a long time playing, you're doing it wrong. Try some different things out. Moose gave you enough info to go on.

" Thanks a lot for this data. I also did write down all my map runs for last few weeks. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au90_YPp2dFJdDQ3dXVJakZGVEJBeXItTkJMaEt3dnc#gid=0 Comparing this data sets it seems almost 100% proven that something is broken in map drop mechanic. According to your data breakpoint is a bit below +25% quantity, according to my data it is on +53% quantity. I see only 3 possible explanations. 1) Map quantity bonus does not work correctly, and affects drop rate less than it intended. 2) Drop rate depends what attacking spell is used. My spork witch and LA ranger did not had problem with map drops, but my cold crit witch and necro witch had very big problems. Maybe mob shattering or minion kills on high distance from player are calculated incorrectly in terms of drops. 3) High IIQ negatively affects drop rate. Doing map runs with high IIQ you will get LESS maps than with 0% IIQ. What explanation is true - need additional data, but all those situations are bugs. IGNs:

I agree that you need between 5 and 10 before starting, then roll maze, area size, and pack size as much as possible.

" I speaking not about small attempts like 5 maps, but about big data sets like 150 maps in this attempt and another 100+ maps in previous attempt (unfortunately, I did not save old data set) What map quantity modifier you think is proper to have in average 1 map drop per run? IGNs:
