Elites with crit: A no no

I'm pretty sure their hands are full in preparation for OB
Dev's have to police their balance comments very carefully. The simple existence of a response by the devs on the balance of something, 'specially something with as much root in the game such as armor, and it's inherent flaws, is/are something the lead dev would need to state, after getting considerable consideration and input from the entire team.

It's a bit of a conundrum. They post, and people can get radically wrong ideas, they don't post, people feel like they just don't care. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I guess managing expectations is difficult when GGG has been so active on the forums.

But as far as what good could come out of this thread :

Well this topic is a good show how these mechanics information needs to be given ingame. People should not get to Ruthless Act2 without finding out armor works bad against big hits and is practically useless against criticals.

Very true, and this is sort of where the moderators come into play. One of our duties is to alert the devs to certain threads that demand dev attention. Sometimes the answer has to be vague, but sometimes it's enough that an answer is given.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

I hope that threads that demand dev attention are based on validity and not how loud the poster is. I fear for you and the rest of this community come open BETA ><

So true. Hence the urgent need for better in-game tutorials.

Better yet, have a basic tutorial (or even a video) where players can see for themselves the effects of armour, evasion, es, how to do basic crafting etc. Are there currently any out there? If not, I'll start a thread on it. I'm talking about an in-game tutorial.

I'm aware that there are FAQs and even quite detailed maths laid out in the forums, but many players will skip the forum and plunge into the game only to realize tens of hours later that they should have read the wiki, forum etc. Whatever their reasons, it's still going to cause a lot of (unnecessary) grief that's not going to be good for the game.

I agree the learning curve is quite steep.

As far as tutorials go GGG has stated that its in works. However a simple path of exile YouTube search will yield plenty of how to videos. Streams are also another way to learn a game, on my stream I will at the request of the viewers explain mechanics and even do full tutorials.

My crazy work schedule though makes it that most my audience is EU.

There are already How-To videos on YouTube? Great! But this is off-topic, I've actually started a thread here.
