Pillar of the Caged God - Spectral Throw - Knockback Marauder
I might try this build, just swap my gear as this is kind of what my facebreaker does. Soon as I find a staff I'll post results. If some one has one for trade let me know and I'll buy it.
Below is my current build

Hey everybody just wanted to check in with some updates and let everyone know how it's going.
I've been farming Docks and Crypt on Cruel to prepare myself for Dominus and Merciless, and during that time (since those zones are pretty easy) I experimented with some different gem combos to see what worked best. Spectral Throw: I have a 5-link from a previous character that I've been using that's GGGRR, so I've been doing Spectral Throw - Leser Multiple Projectiles - Additional Accuracy - Added Fire Damage - Item Quantity (for farming- I'll sub in Knockback). Additional accuracy is a much bigger DPS improvement for me over the increased projectile% that Faster Projectiles gives, mainly because I am rushing over to the duelist armor and health / regen circle to boost my survivability. Speaking of regen, I recently have also been using Blood rage- my natural regen (plus the fact that I have a little chaos resist) means I only lose about 3 health per second to Blood Rage, but I gain frenzy charges on kill and life leech. The damage boost from the Frenzy charges have been amazing, and the life leech is really spectacular. I'm even considering taking the frenzy charge from Merciless Kraityn now because of it. Another thing that a reader of this guide pointed out to me is that I didn't mention Projectile Weakness as a curse to use. It's a great ability because of the added damage with ST, as well as the increased knockback chance. So use it. I'll update the pastebin in a while to reflect the experimentation that I've done. |

Ok I tracked a staff down last night. Compared to 995 facebreakers they do a little over half damage. This was at 650ish strength. Do have to say it may be worth it though to have the better selection of skills. Ground Slam and multistrike is magical with this staff. Attack speed was better though.

Well I've been trying to do a similar build, but on a Templar.
Atm I am lvl 50 in Nemesis. That's what I've got atm:

I'm thinking of removing Iron Grip as it does not give much dps in terms of what should I get. I think it works so that it adds to your base weapon damage and since, base is really low, it's pretty shit. Tbh, looking to upgrade my gear atm, since I'm doing Nemesis, it's a little bit harder to get items/uniques that I need. I reckon I'll be going for 3 main uniques: Bringer of the Rain, Meginord's Girdle and Astramentis - they're all hard to get, but quite essential to the build. If you're playing on a Standard League, you might be thinking of Abyssus, which should give like somewhat +500-1000 dps to your Spectral Throw. Also skills I've been using: Double Strike with Added fire and Melee Physical dmg (for single target, might change to Glacial Hammer) Spectral Throw with Added fire, Additional Accuracy, LMP Auras: lvl 3 Clarity + Hatred Molten Shell / Enduring Cry / Warlords Mark / Rejuvenation Totem for survivability (though these will be added to Cast when damage taken when I get it) Anyways, I'm still thinking of how to utilize the skill tree atm. Btw this is my build, did swap in an abyssus to see if the damage was better, still will be less then facebreaker but compared to a 208 ed khoam's primacy it did much more dmg. |

Well I was also using the Pillar and it is great for mid level game play. I assumed it wont stand up to the higher end 2-handers though when I reach that point (currently level 40's Scion ST thrower). I am surprised that the poster above me says the Pillar beats out a Kaoms Primacy. Was the Kaoms the new buffed version?
Edit: you said 208% axe, so it had to be the buffed version. Last edited by PotatoPants#2999 on Nov 1, 2013, 11:17:53 AM

Keep in mind though, I have 0 phys increases in my tree and a ton of just str.
If you had axe or mace nodes I'm sure the koam's would pass it up. The staff did around 5k dps and i do 10k with facebreakers pre buffs/charges. |

Hehe, needed about 50 fusings for this one:

^ u sir have inspired me to try and fuse my pillar again :D

The build is a bit underwhelming for endgame (lvl 85).
Damage is bad. IB in my BoR does around 12k DPS with the staff, and like 15k with my mace i once bought for some gcp's;

There's no way around it: the staff is weak. It's also nearly impossible to get the right colors with RT (GGGRRR or something like that). I'm surprised, as I get around 960 increased physical damage with the STR through the staff, as much as the old Facebreakers. BUT, the staff has additional +physical damage, which Facebreaker builds are missing. The damage should be much, much higher than with FB's. It seems like something is broken? Or am i missing something? Current Tree: (duelist, not as good as marauder start, but who cares) There are nearly no "Increased physical damage with staff/2h/whatever", as 10str already give 16%, more than most nodes. I did take all the staff block nodes, and am around 50% block, 4,5k HP. Gear:
