Hey guys,

I am sorry that this has not been addressed earlier. I wanted to expand a little on why these threads have been locked recently.

We aim to be relatively lenient about what we allow the community to discuss but there are a few things that we do not permit. One of the main issues that we aim to prevent is the attack and harassment of players.

The series of threads about this incident and their rapid derailment have been considered to be a form of ongoing harassment. This is the essence of why these threads have been locked and several warnings have been posted.

We understand that the community is upset and would like to discuss this, however it seems that this has resulted mostly in attacks being made against an individual, rather than a discussion of actions.

We are not able to make exceptions to allow for players to be attacked in this way. This has happened on a relatively large scale which meant that alternative measures needed to be taken in regards to limiting the discussion.

This is why there has been a shut down of this specific topic and multiple threads have been locked.

Please be mindful that when you offer your items to another player outside of the in game trading system, this is done so at your own risk. We kindly ask that players only do this if they are willing to permanently relinquish any claim over these items.

Please also note that further inappropriate posts made on this issue may result in the player's forum access being restricted.

Yeah, poor rpgfan, he really didn't deserve any of this.

/end sarcasm

What really pisses me off about this situation was that 'closed on the behalf of OP'. At that point there was absolutely no harrasment, only one person that knew he did something wrong and that he would get called out for it, and GGG that so nicely helped him get of out if.

This issue should be talked and talked about until every community member is avare that seeing that Diamond/Eternal supporter title means absolutely nothing now. And I think this is the biggest issue that GGG has with this, and hence they are trying to stomp this under pretense of harrasment protection.

Edit: and you should really reconsider your policy about harrasment. This would the same as as someone asking for charity in real life and then spending it on blow and hookers. And then when people would get a bit upset about it, you would be like 'hey hey, stop with the harrasment, the guy doesn't deserve it. In the future, try not to give any money to charity, mkey?'.

This is basically the point that I had tried to make in a couple of my posts on the subject. The individul asked for a free handout. His wording may have led people to believe that they knew how he was going to use the hand out but even so your still giving him a free handout. At that point and beyond he can do whatever he wants with it and its really not a scam. I just don't like to see that word tossed around. I saw people scamming in closed beta by agreeing to a trade and then whirling blades over to your dropped items and stealing them. That was a scam. In D2 people scammed using the trade window and not putting in the agreed upon item. That was a scam. I don't like to see that word used in regards to a player who begged for a hand out and then people upset that he didn't use it the way they had thought.

I am still strongly against what that player did and what he said in response.

How would people not already be aware of this? Its common sense.

Call me naive but when I see Diamon/Eternal tag I can assume one of two things:
1. The guy plays this game so much that he was willing to donate a 1k bucks. He probably knows what he is talking about (regarding the game itself) so might be a worth while to read his post.
2. This guy has a lot of money but he was cool enough to support a small dev team like GGG. Might as well see what he has to say.

This is true however I don't think it has any bearing on the issue being discussed.

If people want to make this assumption they can but its just as assumption. Its basically saying that having money makes you a cooler person. Just because someone bought an expensive supporter pack doesn't mean that you can trust everything that they have to say.

The fact he was begging for currency in a video game should tell you more than which supporter pack he bought.

Honestly reading the support posts is great. They are purely black and white and really teach me something new each day.

I'm curious though. Does this mean that we can say "[Player Name] took the communities fusings and attempted to use them for his own profit." That's discussing his actions, correct, but not insulting him in any way? And we can use his name in that phrase too, right?
