...Okay, can anyone summarize what happened for those like me who were off the forums for a few days? I don't care about the name of whoever did whatever he did, I'd just like to learn what happened... Because I have absolutely no idea even after having read the 10 pages of this topic. I understand it involved some scamming, but for the rest I'm clueless...

As far as I know, some dude asked for fusings to 6link his item that he needed for his build. Apparently he said he would never sell it.
People gave him fusings, he 6 linked his item.
A while after, people said they saw him trying to sell the item. They got butthurt and harassed him he got defensive, they harassed more, he spouted some threats etc.
Now we have The league of Butthurt running around starting threads all over the place, harassing the player. They think they are doing a service to the community, but it's way past that point. Now it's only a group dynamic involving bullying.

People went mad after that and dozen of threads were being created, which GGG locked as they were being created. He got defensive, they harassed more, he spouted some threats about killing peoples families in general chat etc.
In the end, he sold this item.
What we have now is a tarnished image of Eternal/Diamond tag and also GGG who closed the thread at OPs request and then indulged him even further by sticking his obviously provocative thread with a poem for GGG mod who closed his thread on his request.

You think GGG is on his side? Did you miss his 1 day probation?
They are simply following their guidelines extremely straightforward. There is no middle ground. If you trade items to somebody, you have to be entirely accepting of the fact that they are no longer yours. Nothing else is important to them... at least in this situation it seems. D:
