Having a blast (pun intended) with my burning proliferation Fire Trap witch.
http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgMABAcFQgdjDH0OSBB_ES8RUBGWEmkVUBXXFr8XHBpsHRQfAilPLJwsvzbFNtg62DvhPV9BlkNjRtdJG03YT79SU1ZjVytY9V3GYG1mT2aebRlwUnDVcU1xeX5Zf8aBSYFvghCDOIauh2WIQohri3qMdo9Gl5WYrZmams-cLZ2AnaOdrp3Enjyio6cIpyuus6-3sji1BLb3tzG4k7vWwFHAVMHFwfPDbcae14bYJNrd3fPfsOL344TkIuaB62PsGOw47FXvfPFs8h3z6vrS_Ks= My character is CI since I can afford the nice uniques to run it, but since my character is almost never touched :D CI is not really necessary. In fact, I usually run without the Chayula because everything burns down before it gets to me. The one requirement I'd say is a Searing Touch, I ran a 4L for a very long time and it was fine, especially with EE. 5L is only like 1 ex on SC, too, so not a huge investment. The main skill is Fire Trap, with Flammability curse and Lightning Trap to activate EE and sometimes add shock. Fire Trap has chance to ignite, elemental proliferation, and concentrated effect (5L: fire pen, 6L: inc aoe). Lightning trap can have whatever you want, I'd strongly recommend ele proliferation. Chain and lightning pen are good for getting shocks. I do also keep a fireball with concentrated effect and fire pen for killing stragglers or setting things on fire that weren't already burning. Curse, throw grenade, throw other grenade, everything probably burned down before your second grenade. Fire res mobs are no problem, throw the trap at their non resistant buddies and they burn down with the rest. Bosses are all easy! Just throw a trap or two and don't die, the burning will kill them first. EE with this build is great in groups since others' auras don't screw you up, and almost no spellcasters use fire so the repeated fire traps give everyone else a damage boost. Immune to all types of reflect. Auras I'm running are clarity, discipline and grace. Sometimes Molten Shell for fun, usually too lazy to keep it up. First downside to this build, you need a lot (A little over 100) of dex. Not too crazy, but I did end up getting it in my tree at the cost of other things. Second downside to this build is it requires an amazing amount of mana to run. But I've got my 2 main skills on 6L and 5L, so it's not impossible. Just rather uncomfortable in the mid levels. My guide is in the link above. To give a small preview, this specific Frenzy Facebreaker build is cheap and very effective. You really do not need to have BoR until end-game map since this build has its own weight throughout the game. Had a lot of fun in normal, cruel, and merciless mode this build. My first death occurred when I was about to kill Merc Vaal when it sneaked a lazer beam at me as the last attempt to kill me. Then of course merc Crema Piety had a blast with me with her OP lit ball. I reached map levels with only 5 deaths, and once I equipped BoR, mapping really became easy until 73 since most of my gears was still used from cruel mode. The price of the build (if you exclude BoR) should be way under 1 exalt unless you want the best facebreaker or at least +990%. Most of your gears should be self-found since that is what I relied on until act 3 merc. Edit: To clarify on the self found, most of those gears were founded by two previous characters (300+ hours of playtime combined from both) that has ventured a bit in mapping, but kept them just in case they become useful.
Spoiler
These were all self-found, and were used to level up my Duelist all the way to map levels. Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game. - raics, 06.08.2016 Last edited by JohnNamikaze#6516 on Sep 27, 2013, 10:14:27 AM

" Hopefully you find a build that is fun, cost-effective, and sturdy (another way of saying survivable). I too strive to find builds that way too. ;) Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

" actually, I already have my own fun, cost-effective, tanky build: my great Ice Nova, Molten Shell Templar in Onslaught. played a bit today, and got to mid Act 2 Cruel pretty quickly :) the real aim of this thread, is creating a treasure trove of awesome builds people can pick up and try. the secondary aim, is to give an Exalted Orb (or other currency in case not in Standard) to the guy who provides the best of the best awesome build and awesome guide :D looking at it so far - with more than half a week to go - it's going to be a tough call. " Ah okay. I get it now. I am glad you made this thread since I wanted to contribute for the PoE community as well. Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.
