Why are base stats part of the passive tree

Heh you guys are having a hard time understanding my original post and with reading in general I think:

As I said right at the start, the OP wants to do something really weird, change the entire structure, and doesn't really have much justification for it other than "it is hard". He wants to add small nodes of +mana/ES when those are Int nodes, while then having a seperate passive tree. And he wants to make it so you just choose your keystones, which not everyo build uses. This doesn't really change anything, just makes the passive tree more restrictive because you don't want stats that are useless, you want the nodes you build towards for a reason (grabbing 5 str instead of 5 dex makes a big difference), and instead gives you the disappointment of playing skyrim, where your 2h based melee is the exact same as everyone elses.

I have clearly motivated my suggestion in the post, but you don't really respond to that. In fact you are now saying I have no reason at all which I find quite surprising.

And if any I want to remove small nodes, not add them. If you think I want to add small nodes you made a huge misinterpretation.

Also of course I do not want a tree that forces players into keystones they do not need, why do you think that?

A tree without smaller nodes would make the tree less restrictive because you are not bound to a specific path that allows for example life based builds to walk the path along those life nodes towards the keystones they want.

I suggest you read more carefully thanks.

No I have 3 at the moment and I think a better advise would be to stop wasting time on people who make false statements as arrogantly as you just did so I stopped reading

Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

Early on in the passive redesign (0.9.3 I think) we discovered players really disliked taking nodes they considered useless for their build.

So any transport nodes that weren't stats were problematic. And trying to build a passive tree without transport nodes as such (1) looks very messy, and (2) also has the problem of people feeling they are taking "useless nodes".

So back to the response I got from Qarl:

GGG seems to be convinced that they need transport nodes but I doubt that.

Especially when base stats are not in the passive tree as transport nodes anymore I think it is really just a matter of careful planning to make sure players do not have to pick passives they don't need or want. Also make better use of the middle of the tree which is quite weak atm I think. The middle should be the hybrid area which should have stronger passives and be better accessible.

What would the benefit be in my opinion?

-Less restrictive passive tree, because players have more freedom as they do not have to plan routes that allow them to take the base stats they need.

-Less gear restrictions, because it is easier to raise base stats to meet gear requirements

-Less overwhelming passive tree, because it would be more clear and compact

-Better support for hybrid characters

-Taking the nodes you really want

-More easy managing of base stats, because they are on the character screen where you simply click "+". You do not need access to some node far away from where you currently are in the passive tree.

-More easy balancing of base stats and monster stats, because they are more easy to predict

-More fun leveling, because you well get a passive point and a base stat point each level

Horrible idea, would kill entire tree, disbalance all the builts and kill the game, simply NO

No I don't play, I tried yesterday but quickly realized that in order to progress I need to farm the shit out of merciless with almost no increased IIR/IIQ or start a new character to build of currency.

Like I said the game is too unrewarding

Your opinion is invalid. You don't play the game, you don't have the experience using the passive tree nor do you actually want to use it.

Suggestions you are making appear to be of the attempt to make the game worse, as you have said you very much don't play, and that you plan to go play D3exp as soon as possible, so WHY should we listen to your (usually incorrect) opinions about balance?

How many witches have you made, how many shadows, how many spell casting rangers, how many EA+EE builds have you created? Do you even use a fire trap templar?

I don't understand.

You listed 6 stats, str/dex/int mana/es/ev - where is AR?

This seems rather strange to not include AR and instead include ES. Why did you entirely remove int from your 'combined' stats.

Whats more, we already have this system you state. Your Int nodes give you ES/Mana. Your Dex nodes give you acc/EVA, and your str give you melee/life

So you already have str GIVING you life. You already have teh MANA/ES nodes all over the tree in the form of int.

Please clarify your actual goal, and the reason this goal would benefit. As it currently stands, the 3 base stats have a distinct effect on your character build, and they are MORE noticeable than D2 (seriously, you are bringing up D2's passives?) where you got minimum stats and then only vitality

Evasion, armor, and es aren't base stats.
Base stats are basically the stuff you get before gear and passives: int, dex, str, life and mana.
He probably put es in there because it acts in place of life for es builds, but es isn't a base stat at all.
my evasion is so high i only insta rip sometimes

Bug Fixes:
People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.
@Legatus1982: I already corrected that in the OP

An opinion can't be invalid, only the arguments can be.

FYI: I stopped playing, it is not like I have never played.

You don't have to listen to me at all since you are incapable of debating and fail to respond to negative feedback and suggestions time after time.
I have clearly motivated my opinion and I used the forum what it is for, that is why people who respond should first seriously read and understand.

That is the way a forum works and hopefully you can learn from that. Your reasoning and motivations often don't even make sense.

I have build 0 casters or any ranged characters, I choose to play a life and armour based melee if that is ok with you?
