PoE Vs Diablo 3 new expansion
|
Well arpgs are for anti social nerds, mmos are arpgs for social casuals. Some people just want to play, compete, race alone and kick other peoples asses. PoE totally fails at that starting from obnoxious ways to trade, to limited builds for solo play, to limited drops in solo play, to difficulty curve comparing solo and group etc. This area needs a giant improvement. Diablo II was not forcing you to group to get drops/level/access endgame and afford it. I don't know why GGG thinks it's such a great idea to do so. I want players X NOT to have contact with obnoxious idiots after a day of hard work I can deal with everything PoE has to throw at me, just not always the people. But I have to. I don't want to share my loot, I don't want shav drop to the guy I'm with and watch him rub it in my face, I want it for me and rub it in his face. When you have no luck with drops while playing with friends this game becomes unbearable. I can even say, that ALL PoE problems root from the failed semi mmo setting. Failed trade, failed groups, MF, build balance, trash item flooded screens, desync. This game is balanced like an mmo, not like an arpg and because of that excels at nothing. Could be a perfect arpg. The mmo part in this game is terrible, I don't know why is is shoved down our throats without guilds, better ways to barter, matchmaking. Honestly, just now I realized that this game is not balanced around groups too. In groups you have too much drops - screens full of trash going beyond pick up auto route tracing of avatars, the way how you faceroll everything and how easy it gets. Solo is hard, unforgiving, grants you close to no loot when you go MF and for most builds some boss encounters are just impossible. Where is the sweet spot? Group of 3?
PS. Blizzard cannot be trusted, but neither can GGG, or any other company that makes money. Sure, they can love their product, but it has to meet the financial quota. D3 expansion will be something new and for 1-2 months will be fun. D3 was fun for that long, you can't deny that. Last edited by lososthefish#3348 on Sep 1, 2013, 4:55:07 AM

I played D3 for maybe a month and the only stuff I can really say that I liked was the combat itself and the instanced loot system. Other than that I was just grinding to grind and wondering why I was doing it. I was asking myself questions like "Why is the crafting useless?" "Where are the uniques and why do people tell me that they all suck?", "Why am I only looking at the AH for upgrades?" "Why am I so bored right now?"
D3 lost trust with me by releasing a bad Diablo game. GGG has earned trust by making a game I like a lot more thats a new IP and free to play. Standard Forever

" I guess people have hopes for D3x because they have already improved the game alot on every point that you mentioned. I think people are very dissapointed with PoE because it has some of the same issues that D3 had, but GGG does not seem to want to do anything about it. + desync. |

Yo Sickness! Haven't seen you around in awhile. I wish I didn't give in to allowing myself to continue to hate on D3 because of my past disappointment. Someone I know always sees it who enjoys D3 and then I feel bad for making the post, lol.
FYI to all, If you enjoy D3 thats fine. I really only feel compelled to respond to people in defense of PoE not just to put down D3. I did enough of that back in Closed Beta. Standard Forever Last edited by iamstryker#5952 on Sep 1, 2013, 6:19:51 AM

" I've been lurking around. It's a very dull time at the forums now! Don't feel bad. I just gave my explanation to "why people think the D3 expansion will be so great". Personally, though, I'm far from certain that the expansion will even be worth the overpriced pricetag that it will most certainly have. |

" Lets add destructible objects and lets have them spawn loot... okay now lets remove loot from destructible objects... okay lets add back loot drops but severely nerf the loot from such sources... All because of "bots" and all to the detriment of actual players. All those lootable corpses early in Act 1? Still no longer provides loot, I think. Oh also, bots are farming particular areas? Lets nerf the farm efficiency of those areas to such a degree that NO ONE ENJOYS THOSE AREAS. yes, Blizzard have been doing marvelous work. If they manage to drastically improve the skill and item system in D3 it could be a good game. That's the part where it lacks the most at the moment. Too dull and too linear. If nothing changes about that, D3x will probably be okay for a single playthrough with the new class before it becomes boring again.
I really hope that something happens, though. Don't get me wrong but playing an ARPG without having desync problems all the time would be refreshing. |

" Because GGG handles bots so much better. The piece of D3 rmah was much tastier than PoEs orbs. Btw, I earned 500 euro on Diablos RMAH. I expect the expansion will return it's cost timesfold too. Honestly, Diablo was generous to players that were not dirty causals. It just didn't last. PoE does not have similar concerns, but is much less rewarding. Bots are a problem too and RMT is rampaging. All that saves PoE is the fact that it's small. |

I think we should actually try the expansion before we compare it to anything.
"the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."
