They admitted both reasons for hosting this event. Are you trying to start some kind of conspiracy theory??

It's no secret that we are in beta and they aren't hiding the fact that they want to test balance with a fresh economy. They just happen to be rewarding us for helping them test, with credit that normally costs real money to aquire. And they are responding to the numerous requests for more HC races.

I don't see a problem, and I don't think they are trying to trick anyone or hide anything.
TehHammer seems to me you are upset this morning. And while I would normally agree with the fact you could be right due to how MOST gaming companies work. I would this time have to disagree with you and conclude that, while they are looking at the balance of the game, they are specifically catering to the wants of the consumers and here is why I say that.

If you look at the last One Week Race thread there were a lot post from people who either couldn't play last time or those who made it late to the race wanting another one week race soon / after patch release. Then when they did drop the patch a day EARLIER then expected, unlike most other gaming companies that would of made us wait the extra day for no reason, they schedule the next One week race shortly after per the peoples request.

Now I know that proves nothing they could solely want balance testing right...but why when Panda / Myself messaged Chris asking for a increase on the level cap , never mentioning more reward just wanting more incentive to keep going if we reach 75 again, did he in less then 1-2 hours bump up the level cap and on top of that threw in some more currency. Again most game companies would of probably just ignored the idea or gave some bullshit reason on why they couldn't accommodate our request.

There is also the case where they went out of their way to split up the prize reward from last race for Panda and myself to split after the tie... The list goes on. I can't count how many times I've asked or friends have ask Chris and staff for something and have been accommodated!

So to put the stereotype on them that they are just using this for their own benefit isn't really fair or called for. If they are using it for that reason and solely for that reason they earned the right to use it that way for all the other great shit they have done for the community. So just be respectful IMO before you post shit like that or you might see more people posting to back them up. Good day sir.

Think I will join this this week. This will be my first ladder race and I'm looking forward to it.

I don't really believe I have a chance of winning any of the competitive awards, but I am left wondering, why isn't there a reward, or set of rewards, based on starting class (e.g., reward for highest Templar starting point, etc.).
I have never killed act 2 boss so I dont think I can really compete.. I will probably just play the first 3 hours imagining its a 3 hour race lol.

The level based rewards are well within reach for everyone - the lower ones at least :)

GL, Tindraa! This will be my 2nd 1-week race. Staying alive trumps speed. Many, even in the top 20, ended up dying multiple times (rank #2 seems particularly fatal LOL).

Get some practice on Vaal in default today/tomorrow and you'll be good to go. Most of my deaths last race were to Vaal (2 of 3), but I have more practice with him now and a much better idea of how strong my char needs to be to defeat him without dying.
