Kripp banned from GW2

Kripp may not be innocent but he sure as hell is not guilty of shit. He made 6 gold. And for the most part, he didn't even do anything as bad as bot or buy 10000 weapons priced 1/1000th of their normal price. He also did not ask ArenaNet to disclose to total strangers the state of his account. Nor does he forfeit such a right because he is a streamer.

Facts are facts: Kripp is advertising their game for them for nothing. They owe him. If he finds a creative "exploit" in the game - it's their job to fix it. It's not their job to ban Kripp - unless they want another $60 from him.

Look at POE. The game is DESIGNED to be exploited. All the developres have said: If you can exploit our game, good for you! Of course, game-breaking and "unintended exploits" are fixed/removed from the game, but part of having fun in a game IS learning how to exploit the system. That's what a game IS.

The fact ArenaNet didn't do enough beta testing is evident. These early bugs are on them. Their ban measures are draconian and out of line. I hope they suffer financial loss for this nonsense but they probably won't. People who are playing GW2 have drunken the ArenaNet koolaid and are convinced they can do no wrong.

This seems to happen with all MMOs it seems. From Tera, to WOW, to SWTOR. I don't really understand how people become zombified minions to these companies. If GGG started pulling this shit, I'd be out of here fast.

Look at this and the video Kripp does afterward (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvDcd_PYp78&list=UUeBMccz-PDZf6OB4aV6a3eA&index=35&feature=plcp). He clearly explains in the video following his detailing of a known D3 exploit that he did it to get Blizzard's attention. As far as I'm concerned, he exploits publically so it will be fixed. He's not trying to hide the exploit and benefit from it at all.

This soon after launch shouldn't they focus on fixing the holes asap instead of frolicking with the Reddit crowd?

Dude he wasn't perma banned lol, just 72 hours

No, he was permabanned. They upgraded his status and the ArenaNet support team disclosed this private information on fucking reddit, before telling the guy first.

Point of clarity required here. PoE is not designed to be exploited; it's designed to allow for very creative, clever play. If a player finds a serious exploit and reports it (like a good little beta tester), then you can be fairly certain that if that exploit is not part of GGG's agenda and creates imbalance, they'll address it. Nothing wrong with that.

The issue here is that the so-called exploit in GW2 was really grey-area, and worked entirely within the game as ANet made it. You shouldn't punish someone for pointing out your own shortcomings. You suck it up, smile sheepishly and fix it...or you let it go and say 'good for you!'.

But ANet are not GGG, and as big of a fan of ANet as I am, I'd never make the error of confusing the two.

I just wanted to note that while GGG are very lenient when it comes to certain exploits such as alt-f4ing during hardcore and shopping for chromatics, it would be foolish to think they'd let anything really major slide.

Also, come Open Beta, the repercussions for deliberate exploit usage will be harsher -- see OldManWithABot's epic tale in the 'This a bot' thread for that discussion.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

June 10th lol

And I don't think he deserved a permaban. I think he deserved a metal, for demonstrating an exploit in broad daylight, basically telling the ArenaNet developres that they need to get on the ball.

No, this is exactly what I mean. GGG wants their game exploited by their fans. Many of their interviews state they think players have fun WHEN THEY THINK THEY ARE EXPLOITING THE GAME!

Now, I'm not saying they want players to BREAK THEIR GAME, but they certainly want them to have fun, and part of having fun is discovering stuff like chromatic-vendor-"exploit". Chris even points it out to Kungen during his stream of the game, "Hey, you can do that."
