I used to run the 3 flat mana reserved auras from hp like nearly everyone did, but have fixed my gear / spec to reflect the change coming in 0.11.4. I am currency running all auras out of my mana: Grace, Discipline, Hatred, Tempest Shield, Purity, Determination, Clarity, and of course Arctic Armor. My mana is sitting at 3131 atm, and I'm still going for more. At the moment this is basically the bare minimum it takes for me to have enough left over to still cast a 113 mana EK. I have 250.7 mana regen per second with this much mana.

Could you update your gear & spec in this thread? I would like to see how you went from 2208 mana up to 3131. Thanks!
Update would be mucho appreciated!

well one reason why anvil is good for this build is because you constantly regain health/mana from blocking so much and as you block you constantly have damage being dealt to enemies, and 10% block chance from the anvil saves quite a few skill points which are very precious end game, so i don't see any reason to use any amulet other then the anvil for this build

EDIT: also, the 3% maximum block chance from anvil isn't obtainable from anything else atm

75 vs 78 block, especially with blind stacked on top, is nothing

SOL = 50% of global block applied to spells, its insanely valuable vs megaera and piety

ofc he can have saffells on swap, but that cant block any attacks. piety's ice form cant be blocked like that, and megaera can spawn with skellies golems and incinerators which are all attacks.
So basically this build does what my facebreaker does, but has WAY less DPS?

Slight mod to the Passive layout below. It basically drops the Wisdom of the Glade node, picks up Thieves Craft instead and then reroutes the Dex nodes past the Celerity notable. Then at least you have the option of picking it up to recover some of the lost Movement Speed from using The Anvil.

Also, if anyone wants to consider crafting their armour from scratch I would advise using an Assassin's Garb. As far as I'm aware it should result in a net gain of at least 7% movement speed compared to other Evasion chest pieces. Unfortunately it does have less base Evasion than Zodiac Leather and the highest level requirement.

While sure it's fun to wonder if this can stand up against a Shrine Piety, or something insane like a -max resist Magaera with boss damage/haste and monster damage, the simple fact of the matter is that it doesn't matter, because no one that wants to keep their character will ever do something so completely reckless. No boss loot is that important to me that I would ever even attempt it on Onslaught. Those are things that are fun to try on Standard, but no one without a death wish would try on hardcore, so let's get real.

While Facebreaker builds can back a decent amount of damage compared to this, your survivability is nowhere close. While you are cycloning you may be able to stay topped off, but throw in 10 seconds of lag during a d/c with no life leech and you can more than likely consider yourself back in standard. This character is designed in such a way to minimize the chance of death when you have no control of your character--as this is usually the mostly likely time you will die. Please show me a video of you standing still not attacking in a monster damage gmp map with a room full of champion tentacle miscreants while you have vulnerability and are taking 0 damage on Facebreakers and your claim will have some weight.

I updated the OP with the new mana heavy spec as well as my gear. The problem I ran into was trying to buff my chaos resist above zero--currently at 1%--while maintaining the mana necessary to run all my auras on mana without having to hotswap Reduced Mana gems. To solve the problem I have temporarily dropped The Anvil for a more mana intense necklace, as well as dropping Faster Attacks and recoloring my weapon to move Enduring Cry there giving me a slot for Reduced Mana on helm, gloves, and boots.

It's also quite easy to bring along a SoL in your inventory for Crematoriums and Temples while keeping a Saffel's on weapon swap to completely nullify those bosses as long as the map doesn't have -max resists.
IGN: Aux
I did a modified version of your build that I will be using. Costs 5 more skill points though.

105 points

With this you get to have 100% mana regen from passives alone, along with 64% increased mana. Gained some armor from steel skin as well, and more hp. Might reroute back the movement speed and evasion/es nodes at the shadow when I'm at a higher level, but for now I would rather save up on skill points.

Doing some Arctic Anvil theorycrafting while patching...
Using Aux's gear with your version he would have approximately 374 less mana. This hurts your mana regen, the 100% nodes bring it up to Aux's level, so no gain really. I think that the Arctic Anvil really needs to be customized once the correct gear is chosen. You will probably have to add/subtract INT/Mana/ES nodes in order to fit all the auras while still being able to use EK/Traps.

I noticed that your build skipped several Shield Defense nodes and I was not sure what effect these nodes might have. When I attempted to calculate Aux's mana it turns out that Shield Defenses are a significant source of mana when using Battery. Who knew?

This could be totally wrong!
My attempt to add up Aux's reported 3131 mana and 250 mana/s regen.

Level 83
Int:
(base+passive+gear)14+134+39+26 = 213

Mana:
(base+int+4/lvl) 40+(213/2)+(82x4) = 474.5
(gear) 23+36+62 = 121
(passive) 127
(%mana) .64(722.5) = 462.4
(total) = 1184.9

ES:
(gear + 19disc) 477+202 = 679
(passive%) .32(679) = 217.28
(gear%) .13(679) = 88.27
(int%) .426(679) = 289.254
(ShieldDef%) 1.40(388) = 543.2
(total) = 1817

Mana+ES = 3002

Regen:
(base regen) 1.8%
(passive+gear) 60+169 = 229%
(from mana) 3002(.018(2.29+1)) = 177.8
(from 19clarity) 20.6(3.29) = 67.8
(total) = 245.5 mana/s

When I repeated this method on your build it had 2628 mana and 250.5 mana/s regen. Significant mana losses were from fewer ES nodes (-109) and fewer Shield Defense nodes (-233).

-resists dont matter that much if you have a flask and high spell block, and enfeeble, if you arent getting hit that much in the first place it doesnt matter how much extra dmg you take.

Is the 8% Reduced Mana Reserved from the Alpha's Howl global or local? Also how does the Reduced Mana Reserved attribute interact with Reduced Mana gems, additive or multiplicative? Unfortunately I haven't had chance to use either yet.
