Loot system discourages group play
I generally do not group because of the loot system. When you are in a group, there really needs to be individual loot for each person. I have to say that is one thing that DiabloIII got right.

" i got a simple solution for you... make a party and tell them the rules of loot. whenever i party i tell the people that im a laid back person and as far as i see it if your name is on an item i will not touch even after the timer is up... if by accident i pick it up ill drop it for u. simple as that. i really like this system because it weeds out the assholes from the community. this is especially useful on HC because if u notice someone is quickly focused on picking up loot instead of killing things... you know that is not a good person to group with since they may get you killed because its obvious they focus on themselves. in D3 you could not see this red flag until its too late.. your in HC u been playing with a guy and the whole time u have no idea that he cares nothing about looking out for the party till it is too late |

Most of the things that drop are not even useful for your character anyways, no need to scrub it up and race for everything. As well the more people you have the more loot that drops, it seems to me the stuff that drops for you with the timer is almost equivalent to that of you playing by yourself. Also partying gets through instances a lot faster potentially generating more loot then soloing.

Honestly, I think the introduction of formal guilds would solve this problem for many players. Then people can join guilds with an appropriate loot etiquette and play the way they want, when they want.

" Yeah, that would be nice. I just know they need to do something as the way it is most people do not group. And especially not public groups. |

I join groups because I like the witch's (that I'm grouped with) 180% MF buff.
If you don't group it's your loss. I, for one, can not stand playing solo. And I hardly see how it discourages group play since loot drops better in groups. ign: SQLException dxdiag: http://pastebin.com/8WJ696Hu Last edited by stayBlind#5159 on Aug 11, 2012, 10:20:24 PM

Just don't play with dicks? If you playing with one, leave group join another?
Join a guild/community play with them? play with friends? There will probably be blacklist in future. |

"Yes, you're absolutely right. Most of the time there's no problem at all. You go through, everyone grabs stuff they need and no one has any trouble. The problem is that this game's loot system is designed around being a lottery, and there's always the potential for you to get an amazing item. A single perfect item could easily be worth hundreds of runs worth of loot. Losing out on that item because you're in a party is too much of a risk. I'm simply not willing to wager that perfect item on my reaction time, which is why I don't group. If, however, there were some way to guarantee that grouping was a low-stakes affair, I would be perfectly content with an FFA loot system. " That doesn't help. If someone steals your perfect item the damage is already done, and kicking them won't do anything. The only way to avoid losing out on that perfect item is by not grouping.
