Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" You didn't? I couldn't help but start critiquing that loot system from the first minute I loaded up D3. So I actually thought about this issue and formed opinions, while you didn't think about it but see fit to call my opinions weak. Hmmm... But you're right: I think I should have the opportunity to pick up each good drop. In a game like PoE, "good" is often subjective: while we might all want orbs, you might not think that a rare bow is even worth picking up, while I might think it is badass for any number of reasons. Is that the same thing as saying I should get ALL items that drop in-game? Obviously not. Oh, and I would never spend time arguing over a drop, because it's FFA. Once it's picked up it's gone, although you can always ask. Arguing over drops puts you about on the level with these people: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O6IMYSSs7c |

" I'm aware of why it is brought up, but it is not a valid point unless you have some evidence that the game will have security issues regarding a pickit-like hack. Otherwise any argument can be validated by saying "well, people can use hacks to do X". Even if that were the case, fixing the security hole would be the solution, not changing a core element of the game. |

" With OB right around the corner I'm playing sparingly. There are likely others doing the same. Once the game opens up to a much larger audience I'm sure you'll see plenty of public games, although there is certainly nothing unusual about playing an ARPG solo or in a private setting. It wouldn't surprise me if most people fired up PoE and exclusively played solo because they are taking this beta time to test, experiment, and explore at their own pace. |

Every time I check the pub board. There are parties.
And, this has been stated before. PACE. Many people like to take breaks for whatever reason. Myself included. Asking why there are not more pubs, in a game with few players, split up by 4 difficulties, split up by 2 acts, split up by quest completions, and than further split up for their own personal reasons. Is odd. Not everyone wants to play pubs all the time. For whatever reason. I tend to find them more fun when I'm trying to complete the.game faster or farm for items. If I'm worried about exp, they must be around the same lvl as me, otherwise.my exp gain rate decreases. |

Unfortunately you are wrong. There were more players on lately than in previous months. 700players normally but the last few times I looked it was around 1800.
So, more players than normal & almost ZERO public games, not to mention there are never many public games. This game is failing when it comes to public multiplayer. And here comes our resident broken record Slayer with the pace argument...Yawn. |

" But it's a perfectly reasonable argument. Just a few posts back iamstryker was asking about players that want to play at a slower pace. If a newer player opens the game and wants to stare at the PST for 10 minutes straight he's probably going to start a private game. Played any multiplayer? If you spend a lot of time looking in your stash, picking up too many items, selling too many items, or anything else that takes you out of combat you're going to get left behind quickly. There are any number of reasons why a player might want to take it slow, particularly in a test period like closed beta. Last edited by Aixius#5661 on Dec 25, 2012, 10:55:42 AM

Yes yes PACE is the reason that noone wants to play public games, that's why there are 200+ page threads about pace & new ones made everyday, all about pace, what was I thinking being under the impression that the loot options are more important than pacing, what a clot I am.
