Chat Channels
Chat commands are OK, but there should be a way to insert them fast. Like when one types "/" menu pops-up with all commands - and their syntax. Select one, type missing info, press Enter.

It'd be nice if you could assign commands to hotkeys so you would just need to type /'hotkey'. And make it customizable by the player.

ya adding a /help feature would be nice. I don't know how often i do this for rarely used or forgotten commands.

I hate all these complicated chat commands, would it be possible to have a chat log and to be able to drag player avatars to the desired location. Dragging them out of chat log into a chat channel box to have them join it and out of the chat channel box into chat log to kick them out.
You could also have like a search refine typing box in the chat log that would use the part of the character's name you remember to find the person so that you could drag them into a chat channel box. Also, will there be voice chat for say parties and trading or whatever? Or, will we have to use say Teamspeak for that? |

There really not to complicated. Take for example /add(PlayerName)
The / is just a way of saying start command. The add means add a player. The Parenthesis are for separation and the name is obviously there name. It really pretty simple just have to get used to the symbols. Although if they have time i think it would be cool to be able to drag and drop names. Although this could get annoying in combat if you're with your friend and drag his name instead of killing a monster, but it could be a cool feature if implemented well. Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.

A Off Topic channel might be good as i know people who often gather in our regular chat channel to watch footy or popular shows usualy with a few shared comments on them as they watch.
Also for a general channel id go with the regional varient as this is less likely to course language barrier problems. Finaly on channel sizes ... hard q that :/ Ok i'll go for 20 as a general rule of thumb based on my experience in chat channels. When a hot topic kicks off ive found that having many more than that means you struggle to keep up with the conversation as to many people often respond at the same time. I wouldn't be here but I was out voted 3 to 1 by the other personalities.

The game should contain the following channels;
Local: Accessible in game only. All players in the current Act can see and respond. Guild: Accessible in and out of game. Private to each guild. Only Guildies can talk or see what is typed.(A guild channel should require RL cash to create, and maintain?) Trade: Accessible in game. I'm not sure how many players in each act/game are going to be allowed but if it's more than the paltry 8 that D2 allows you can have a dedicated trade channel. I agree with other posters about it only being available in towns. I would also like to see it easier for players to show what they are using and what they have in their stash for trade. Don't just copy the D2 system...it had a myriad of major flaws that made in game trading both time consuming and frustrating. We really don't need this game's trading aspect run on some other website owned by clowns that I will not name here.... Game/Technical Help: Available out of game. Pretty self-explanatory and a standard feature of any online game worth a damn. Does not need to be run by payed employees per-se but should have a official presence of some sort. Private Chat: In game and out of game. Private room that only those whom you invite may chat in. And thats really all I can see you need.... You can make the standard out of game chat channels such as Guild Recruiting, PvP matchs, Witch Strategy etc but its unlikely those channels will even have much traffic. As far as how they look...Just a simple group of titled tabs that can be clicked upon to switch between the modes would be good. Chat channels you have no access to can be greyed out. I would love to be able to drag items into the chat window and have other players be able to mouse-over the text to see the item and stats. And of course the full line of Mute, Away, Whisper, Block etc commands. |

One i forgot to mention,
League chat channels. With your plans to have different rules for each I suspect people playing these would appreciate channels specific to them they could gather in to talk about and seek help for etc. I wouldn't be here but I was out voted 3 to 1 by the other personalities.
