Perfect gear in 30minutes? No thanks.

I just "love" people like you.
really do.
commenting without reading one damn line in the entire thread. one damn follow-up post by me or everybody else.

so instead of repeating myself just for you in a long post - like I usually did 2 months ago - I'll respond in the most simple and direct way I can:

read, or GTFO of my thread!

I've read it alright, just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they havn't read. Sometimes people just have a different opinion
Hailo, I respect and encourage different opinions in all the threads I start and take part in.

read Tingshi's or Scrotie's reply. people who actually bother to explain why they don't agree with me.

their rather short posts still make yours and BazzV5's look like something out of "CSI Miami" (puts on sunglasses). this is what gets on my nerves.

you read it? good. you don't agree? fine.
explain why instead of just tossing a line like "prefect gear in 30 minutes" (which is dead wrong btw, and you'd know that if you actually bothered reading like you said you did) or "Play smarter, not harder".

Stop complaining JohnKeys.
This is not crafting system but a gambling one, period. And this changes everything.
And it's awesome!!
Getting best gear in one minute? noooo....
(I hope everyone understands it's irony)

If you won't stop this idiot will come and lock your thread:

Exactly how many more QQ topics are you going to start about crafting? Just curious.

That's all your orbs? Man, you are doing something very very wrong. I'm not even close to being hardcore or lucky, still i have a stash tab FULL of orbs. only a few of them are high ends, but still. 10 alts? I can't believe it. I just can't. If you take all the blues from ONE map, id and sell them, you get 10 alts from the shards.

On, and incremental crafting? It's in the game. Craft 6L first and then start a build using it, so no risk of your char becomes useless.

I was going to write you a long and serious reply, Daxora - but then I saw this:

and realised it's pointless.

these are all of my orbs. you don't believe? ok. I don't care.

I really am doing something wrong, but I really have no idea what.

since the start of Open Beta - hundreds of hours, 3 difficulties, maps - I don't have a clue why I deserve to be destroyed by RNG so badly. to run the entire Lunaris Temple on Merciless including Piety - and get utter garbage. to run a level 67 map with increased difficulty, and come out empty-handed.
and as for Alteration Orbs - I bought Jeweller's and Fusing orbs with them. wiping-out time and time again.
I also used them on maps, so their amount is no indication.
the amount of Chaos and higher - is.

you could be helpful and provide some insight, but instead you chose to be a dick about it.
I have nothing more to say to you.

These kind of games are supposed to be time sinks, it needs them to stay alive. What you're proposing removes a lot of longevity from the game.

Even with the clever orb/currency dump in this game the "inflation" has already started. Now I don't play softcore but I've heard it's even worse there.

If these are indeed all of your orbs/currency after 100's of hours of playing etc...
There is only one reason: you've been wasting orbs on items that you shouldn't have.

I can understand the urge to try and improve on a piece of found gear, but in order to be truly successful, you need to be very selective on what you use your currency on. If the *new* piece is only slightly better: don't waste the currency. If it's absolutely awesome or a *huge* improvement on your old gear, and you have excess currency: go for it.

Side note: It's often cheaper to buy new gear (via trade) than it is to create/modify gear you find. I personally don't trade very often, but I'm very selective on what I choose to use my currency on.

For example: I needed an improvement for my bow and found this:

it had 1 socket. I would've loved 5L/6L, however... I rolled about 14 jewellers and got 5 sockets: good enough. I would've loved to link them all, but if it didn't happen in 6-8 fusings...screw it (bow isn't good enough to waste that kind of currency). Got 4L on roll 2, used 5 more fusings... got a 4L on fusing #5, said to myself: good enough.

When I find a bow worthy of wasting dozens/hundreds of orbs on: Will do... but not until then.

TL/DR:

GGG doesn't need to make "crafting" (as you call it) easier. The player population needs to learn how use there currency properly. That is just my opinion, no one has to agree with it.

Best of luck

thank you, for a serious reply.

yes I understand that, but there needs to be a balance between reward and longevity. a way to make the game last a sufficiently long amount of time (to be defined by GGG), without harming the players.

currently, GGG took it to the extreme of zero-reward no matter the risk - and worse still, possible over-reward for low risk for some.
that's wrong. that's "evil random" if we are to "rank" random in an allegiance scale.

what this kind of approach does, is make players like me stop playing - which probably isn't too bad. perhaps I'm just not "hardcore" enough to Chris and co's liking, despite playing and enjoying some of the hardest, and most demanding and unforgiving games for almost 30 years.
it's ok. I can understand when I'm not welcome.

but what it also does is THIS (Grimlocke's post in http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/366873/page/4/). and this is bad. very, very bad.
