I came here from Diablo 2 (yes, two :).

" Agreed!! I have uninstalled Diablo 3 and unless there are major improvements it will remain that way. |

I maxed all the classes in D3 in about a week, but saw no reason to farm Inferno endlessly like the people that are still playing. At least in D2 there was the ladder and it was almost impossible to max a single class so there was always a reason to play. So I've also uninstalled D3. Screw that game, I'll stick to POE.

" Taking hours and hours and hours doing something redundant doesn't necessarily add to the fun value.( making reaching max level take longer) I don't mind the change in maxing your character level easily. Inferno is about increasing your gear lvl.( supposedly). What I mind is the boring loot, horrible drop rates, and the necessity of the AH in Inferno. Inferno is nothing but a gold grind so you can BUY your gear. It's impossible to actually play the game and gear up. What kinda crap is that. |

" Maybe some misunderstanding...Ive been posting about PoE over on D3 forums for about a week now, pretty much all day everyday. Not spamming here, spamming there. 1) Because the community is Irate and I know there are other broken hearted gamers like me 2) I feel this game is the successor to the D2 throne, and want to share that experience. |

A warm hello to you all,
I too came from Diablo 3, I haven't yet found the drive to go into inferno. From what I read it's not fun and is generally a let down. I have been playing Diablo 3 since the BETA, during the beta I hoped the full game would be more in depth...I was wrong. However I still went out and bought the collectors edition, which is nice but the game kinda lets me down. Hopefully POE will be the awesome 2nd coming of Diablo 2 which I was soooooo hoping diablo 3 would be. yay for POE Looking forward to POE :)

" Ive only played a bit so far, (yay RL) but the game is very enjoyable so far. Aside from bashing monsters (standard game play here), there is so much stuff. Things I like so far... 1) The skill forest. (tree). I think most of my time playing has been browsing this looking for the direction I want to go. There are just so many choices. It is kind of intimidating at first, but really it is quite easy to understand and navigate. The option of choice is huge, it means that while there might be 100 Templars, chances we are all running the same builds/gears/abilities is tremendously small. Not only that you can make any number of templars yourself, and never need to travel the same road. - Contrast that to D3 where all monks, essentially had the same skills and gear. Look the same, play the same. Get bored the same. 2) The Ability system is pretty baller. Having transferable abilities for one (as far as I understand I only have 1 Character) is frankly quite awesome. This just increases the amount of options for customization. If my understanding is correct I could level as a templar, and recieve my ability rewards from quests, then put them in my stash and start a witch. Using abilities I got from my templar (level dependant of course) on my witch, while I get abilities from questing with her. - Contrast this to D3 where you had your abilites and only your abilities, no mix matching a fireball on a monk, or a whirlwind strike on a wizard. No variety. 3) and most important to me is content I haven't even seen. Endgame. A reason to keep playing after you "beat" the game. A reason to keep min maxing your character, and more importantly a rewarding feel to it. Even if you don't loot your abilities and skills always progress! (provided you aren't capped out obviously). All based in a world that is non linear, you can go back and forth provided you cleared the required quests, and the mobs will be there for you. Also from my understanding you can reload zones without having to make a new game (CTRL Click waypoints I think). Contrast to D3 that has no rewarding endgame...sure you can continue to min/max, but thats it, if no gear drops you get no reward, no levels to gain, no skills to improve. To me this takes all the good things from Diablo 2. The great leveling styles from two classic games FF7 and FFX, and meshes them into a perfect amalgamation of gameplay/rewards/replay value. I think you will greatly enjoy this game, especially if you found the issues with D3 to be similar to mine. |

Totally refreshing to play PoE after trudging through "that other game" for 300+ hrs, 4XLVL60's later and very little to show for it but frustration ...oh yes decent gear that was given to me by some koreans that took pity on me for my gear since I only found a couple of useable LVL60 items during all that playtime. I refused to use the GAH amd RMAH beacuse I felt that it was not what the game should be about. (I was wrong!)
Glad to find people who actually want to create a game that is enjoyable and not just for the money. That "other game" was designed by programmers to meet the specifications outlined by accountants for the enjoyment of their shareholders. So far the gameplay here has been quite rewarding and I am enjoying the skill choices and overall game design. The only negative is that combat seems a bit sluggish and disjointed, but it hasen't been so bad as to be a deterrent. See y'all on the trenches! | |
Soo i was thinking about actually buying a copy of Diablo 3 but seeing all of these complaints from the comunity i am starting to wonder. What do you guys think? Should i buy it?? Is it really that bad?? I played the beta a while ago and i enjoyed it.
