Ragdoll Effects

Will Ragdoll effects be added to the death animations of enemies? Not saying they are bad at all but i prefer a bit of ragdoll :)

I think implementing ragdoll physics this close to Open Beta is not likely, but you never know. Having played the game zoomed in lately, I can say that the death animations are far more satisfying to me than ragdoll physics, which are perhaps too exaggerated for the 'realistic' feel of Path of Exile.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
Ragdoll option for GGGold! :D

Right-click like a kiwi to toggle the effect?

I have a feeling you might be right on the money there.

From the Pre-Purchase link out on the left of the page:

I hope it will be added in final release. It's preety cool, and disable situations like corpses lying above stairs. Monsters falling down from the clifs are something i want to see in PoE!
Big YES for ragdoll implementation :D
If I remember correctly, they said no to that a long time ago. Their engine hasn't been made for that.

ps : ragdoll usually sucks anyway.

This reminds me, I need to get in touch with some of the people here about starting a PoE Clan before beta goes open.

The really funny thing is that they could implement random movement on death, and call it ragdoll... and people probably wouldn't know the difference, since most ragdoll physics engines end up with what essentially amounts to random flailing.

Quick, put the curtain back before people see what's behind it!

hehe, don't get me wrong, physics engines are good and great and all, but they have to be used appropriately with a purpose in mind.

Just throwing them into a game to create procedural movement is often not any better than (and is often worse than) pre-computed animations.

They usually have two primary benefits:

1) procedural collision leading to dynamic combat attenuation (either via actors or environment)
2) procedural collapse death animation. (this is useless because it often leads to random flailing)

This frees up animators to do other things I suppose, in certain cases, but also brings its own issues.
