Post aura rage here. I will lock any other aura thread I see.

I vote for graphics option for old auras as well, and I think auras on player should be less intense and smaller and on party members / minions it should be 38% smaller and not a bunch of circles, it would be nice to see a newly designed determination that's not so distracting
Any official words on whether a graphical option for old auras will be considered at all?

And what exactly is the rationale behind the aura change? Is it for performance enhancement or just a so call "graphical improvement"? If it's the former, I certainly didn't notice much difference (mostly solo). If it is for the latter, then the new auras failed horribly. This is a giant step backwards in terms of look and style for POE. I really cant stand the look of the new auras :(

The patch notes cited performance reasons; check back in this thread and you'll find a post from Russell talking about how the old auras were made, and that the aura graphics had been slated for a rework for some time.

I think the community has been loud and clear that the new aura graphics fall short - the "disco balls" are gone, but with them went a lot of eye candy. Also, if you're standing in water or even thick terrain, the aura goes away entirely. Given the rather vociferous negative reaction from their cu$tomer base to the aura nerf, I think it's a virtual certainty that GGG is talking about possible options. I know I would be. Hopefully GGG will take action sometime soon...but I imagine that there are other things ahead of a "rework of the rework". The current graphics definitely need some additional beef; time will tell whether that comes in another patch or is made available as a microtransaction.

I my self as an old school D2 fan loved the Old auras in path of exile, i Nearly jumped out of my seat when i saw all the nostalgic aura themes back again.

When they reduced the auras to the hoola hoops they have now. i gave out a big sigh.

I'm sure they will make an option for it in the future and well i really do hope the fancy auras come back into play. Heck ill even donate for them to come back in.

I honestly feel like a big part of the game has been cut out..like..when you get a really horrible hair cut..and nobody wants to look at you.

Thats how I feel now..lets hope the hair grows back.

Seriously...its bad.

Great analogy.

When the old auras were active in a very dark area, used to be so beautiful the contrast, now there's no contrast at all.

Hell i would even pay for a micotransaction that would let me use the old auras vs the new.

This is my personal opinion and only reflects how I will conduct myself; your mileage may vary...

If they offered the old auras back as a microtransaction, I guarantee - no threat- no hyperbolic reaction to try to get my way - that I will leave this game and never donate to it again.

At this point, I went from running three auras to running none. This change has affected my enjoyment of the game - your opinion may differ, which is fine. To bring it back at a cost would feel similar to an insult. I've donated quite a bit of money since the start of OB. My plans would be to continue doing such. Donating to bring back a feature that I liked, which was replaced by something I dislike so much that I refuse to use, is ridiculous and unacceptable.

I actually wouldn't mind the old auras as cheap shop items. That would mean we can mix and match new and old looks to our liking, instead of just have a new/old checkbox in the options. I miss the eye-candy too, individual auras where damn nice to look at. Once you stack a whole bunch it got too messy though. How they look right now, I would actually opt for no aura FX on me at all and just have them in my buff icons. :/

An option would be great. My machine had no trouble with old, beefy, flashy auras and I think they look and feel better than these ones.

Sure, they make look silly and exagerated, but at least I feel powerful. Something the new effects just don't do. They're just... stale.

I think they just need to redo the new auras altogether.

This would keep the intention of less power-hungry effects, but would allow them to make the effects BETTER than they are in the current state.
