Hah, sounds like a fun challenge. Cannot wait until I get my new character there.

Level 53 mob.

Level 60 character. Presumably with level 60 gear. Who cannot handle the thing.

Now when a level 53 character shows up and this thing has spawned... They're 100% screwed. If it happens to have spawned in a room required to progress (right next to the exit or entrance for instance) and doesn't mind chasing then they basically cannot progress through that instance of the area.

That's not a "fun challenge". That's poor design and sadism on the developer's part.

There's this thing called a "realistic challenge" if a level 53 mob spawns in such a way that a level 60 character with presumably suitable gear for level 60 content CANNOT CHALLENGE IT that is not a realistic challenge.

Anyone remember the "Conviction+Lightning Enchant+Multiple Projectiles+Bonus Speed" mobs in D2? I do. I just fought some last week. Guess what, seeing a mob that you considerably outlevel being able to INSTANTLY KILL YOU with no real hope of beating it isn't fun. For 99% of players it's just frustrating and makes them not want to play.

then learn to play better or change the difficulty. there will be a easy option yes?

Mainstream build, nothing fancy concerning gear but I dare say I know what I was doing - been to Chaos before (hc).

............

PS All things considered I have to say good job GGG Im liking where you going with this.

I quoted this part because I was just thinking. Maybe there are no mainstream builds anymore?

I mean we are used to the game as it was and what used to work before. And this patch and the changes are very recent.

Maybe it is us the ones who need to change and not the game as it is? Just a thought though not trying to start an argument here.

For what you describe and considering the random monster generation you probably entered a very bad area instance.

Chaos is chaos.

There's a difference between a realistic challenge and an unrealistic one. A realistic challenge is beatable if you cheese at a level appropriate for the challenge, and unrealistic challenge is near impossible when you're outgearing the opponent.

Chris mentioned in a post which I cannot find right now that combinations of mods on rare monsters are supposed to potentially be so powerful that the better option is to run rather than to fight.

I find it ridiculous to have a game where it's encouraged not to play.

Just because you can't manage to defeat a monster doesn't mean its ridiculous to have. On the contrary it makes the game even more fun and interesting for those who succeeds killing it.

If the Dev says it's better to avoid the fight... then isn't that absurd in itself? And why are you flaming me for making a comment? Who says I can't manage to defeat a monster? I've been playing closed beta since day 1, so don't flame me.

No. I think unbeatable fights are a legitimate game mechanic. To me, anyway, such things shake me from my haze of right-clicking to murder masses of weak, boring enemies.

Ok. Fired up the Lv 60 Witch and headed to what is supposed to be a level 53zone.

Came across 3 Named mobs within 3 rooms, 2 of which gave overlapping auras.

But what I noticed about all three were the had a Stat like ""Regenerates Life"" or ""Leeches Life from Minions""

At first I thought, Who the hells Idea of making a game harder is to add some sort of Faster health regen....

Then this guy:

He doesnt LEECH life, he has an ungodly REGEN when not in a fight and I dont mean like you ran away and returned.

He runs 90-nonthin around the room, attacks, WARPS, then attacks, you get him down to just about dead and he runs away while his health fully regens as does his shield.

What I noticed is that I never got this guy down to less than 1/5th of his life again.

This reminded me of the fight with the Necro last night.

In both fights, I got them down to within seconds of killing them to watch them totally regenerate all their life and completely drain all my Heal potions and Mana.

So what? you should see the 6 man party chaos runs on HC.
Most interesting thing I did in game today was dealing with a rare bear that I couldn't kill (regen, regen aura, phys damage reduction).

Just lured him about one screen backwards, summoned a totem, then ran past him and out of his aggro range while he attacked the totem.

I'm a fan of having these optional fights.
