An appeal @GGG to allow low-life builds to have normal endgame experience
" So you change driving at night on the wrong lane with lights turned off to driving at the correct lane at night with lights turned off? This is an annoying factor such as "Bloody Screens" in shooters. Make it a sound indicaotor or an UI option. Forcing players to see nothing will only result in an open source release of a proxy that gives the client full life value while printing correct ones on screen. And you should know that such a thing isn't detectable since there is no memory injection and since it will be open source it may result in a packet send implementation which can be used for far worse tools. |

Thanks Mark, Erik and others, for taking a look into this.
As I am sure you already know, playing a low life build has some serious disadvantages compared to CI builds. While average geared CI players will cross 10k ES with ease and still be able to slap on one or two mfing pieces of gear, that can't exactly be said for low life builds, especially when taking into account such builds are also almost impossible to be played without 'cannot be stunned/frozen gear'. Running a low life build with only 5-6k ES in endgame maps is quite risky, and prone to easy deaths. Not to mention due to having no chaos immunity, capping all your resistances is insanely difficult, maybe only with the best rares in the game (I doubt it since one ring and neck slots are taken by 'prevent' mods gear). Now imagine on top of that, low life builds having to use additional uniques extending light radius.. I just don't see how such builds can be viable after that. Many players suggested there should be an UI switch for this, allowing players to make a choice for themselves. I have to agree with them, because lets face it, low life vision is a technical game issue and not exactly something that should be preventing players from enjoying the game properly. Why, you might ask? Lets imagine someone creates a wonderful game like PoE, with solid graphics and interesting landscapes/dungeon interiors. They would have wanted players to enjoy those exteriors/interiors, of course. And then, certain items/builds/skills are introduced into the game, allowing a wider variety of builds to be created. However, some of those builds would never be able to play the game normally and enjoy watching all those interior designs while playing trough them. What would be the point of those builds/gear/skills if they could never be able to see and admire half of the game, same as other builds do? Visibility can not be a 'downside' to a build, ever. It goes against major principles the game itself stands for. Thank you again. Last edited by Grimlocke_#4737 on Mar 21, 2013, 4:41:42 AM

Pain attunement should reverse the light radius curve- From near total darkness at full life to blazing screen-wide incandescence at 1% life.

^ That's a wonderful idea, Kotao.
After so many downsides and gear requirements low life builds have, this would be one beneficial effect as a bonus, without meddling into either gear, skills, passives or anything else. Big +1, the best and most logical suggestion I've heard in a long while. Last edited by Grimlocke_#4737 on Mar 21, 2013, 5:50:22 AM

" Get this man a cigar. KoTao bringing them good ideas. I'll +1 that. Now presenting! Venom ink; malice in the pen, poison on the paper, anger in the mind.

Indeed +1, nice ideas.
Lowlifebuilds should also come with an integrated +100%increased item quantity mod, for all the Pains they have to take, else there wont ever be a reason to play one. Just makes sense if one calculates the estimated pricetag of around ~50Exalteds in Equipment needed to be able to play such a build. All those immunities aren´t cheap, you know, so Reward must be guaranteed. I still dont like what Shavronne did to us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drDs-Y5DNH8

Speaking of low-life, that new unique robe is also a must if you want to play so.
I would like to see a passive node on the tree with "Chaos does not pass through ES". it could be accessible through a few minor nodes that give +light radius. Where should it be located? After pain attenuement? edit: i don't like the idea of a build being too gear-dependent, especially if that gear is very expensive. Last edited by patroche#3606 on Mar 21, 2013, 8:39:28 AM

" It is by no means required it is just much much safer and now semi viable in HC. People have been playing low life builds for some time. Now presenting! Venom ink; malice in the pen, poison on the paper, anger in the mind.

" you can't survive a burst of chaos dmg in end-game/high maps, and i really don't think it is viable in HC |
