Etiquette on items with no price

This is rule only for generic items with well known prices - like currency, divination cards etc. If there is actually an item listed - you can make offers, because if seller didn't wanted to hear offers - he wouldn't listed an item for sale.

He might - if he doesnt have a non public tab to store said item.

And this will make such person a trade scammer. Since this thread is about trade etiquette and scammers are irrelevant to it, my point is still valid.

As long as you pretty much know what the price should be I have had very good luck at this time of a league with nicely asking for a price. Don't even bother early in a league.

And sometimes the seller says "make an offer" and I will do so always suggesting that he/she take a quick peek at poetrade if they are feeling that my price is too low.

Anyway, I used to never ever respond to a unpriced item, and I still will not if there are suitable other items. But, if this is important to you (like balancing resists etc.) it is generally worth the trouble. Remember to be nice and patient.

What do you do?

Throw up a low ball offer?

Ask them what they want? (but then probably ignored because they wont know which item you mean unless its a unique)

Why even list it with no price except as a negotiation technique?

Make an offer. If they are rude add them to ignore list.
You ask the price they want for it and do the "i don't know, make an offer" dance.

then you offer an alchemy orb, instantly revealing they actually have a price range in mind, those slick and cheeky fella's.

Spoiler
you can look for similar items and prices and see if thats acceptable for you, then offer that and see if they take it. Then you instantly know if they are reasonable or "holding out" for that 50 exalt offer they aren't going to get.

I thought you were some old fart, but then I saw a post about you being born in 1991 and I got lost.

do you realize how awkward and ridiculous this looks in every single one of your posts? Why are you doing this?

Doesn't matter. This shit is so cringeworthy that I'm taking it for myself

He's been doing it for nearly 7 years IIRC. It's the posting style. I've seen other users do it as well but on other forums lol

if people offer some chaos then i will price check the item and answer

if they offer me 1 alch or something then i just ignore the message because i find more currency when i just kill the 80-160 monsters instead of doing the trade
I wouldn't bother offering anything for an item without price.

That said, if it's the perfect one of a kind upgrade I might throw an offer, but never low ball, it would only waste mine and their time.

I just dump my stuff in dat juicy quad premium tab where I sell other things too, I have no other space.

As said above - don't bother, or be ready to be ignored.
Whenever I shop for something with better rolls, i tend to lowball stuff without buyout.
50% cut from lowest market price is not unsual but it depends on item.

For example
- Pyre bad roll - 1c
- Pyre max roll - 15c+

So i throw an 10c offer on max burning dmg roll. So i need the 5% extra burning dmg? Not really, but worth the try.
I successfully lowballed 1ex+ jewels for 10-50c, but it's like 1 out of 20, maybe.

Usually I am able to go with lowest market price -10%, direct offer and that is often successful. But i do that only when I need something specific. Bought boots i need to get perfect Wise Oak res, was willing to spend 2ex on boots, bought a pair for 20c which were listed without buyout. Other pairs were 100c +
