Etiquette on items with no price

What do you do?

Throw up a low ball offer?

Ask them what they want? (but then probably ignored because they wont know which item you mean unless its a unique)

Why even list it with no price except as a negotiation technique?

As a rule of thumb. Don’t bother looking/negotiating for items without a price.

Some people post stuff without prices because they know it is nearly priceless and/or it's practically one-of-a-kind. Some do it simply because they forgot to set a price. And some do indeed just like to negotiate.

You can actually find some decent deals from people who don't post a price, and you can also end up interacting with some complete jerks.

Throwing up a low ball offer is nearly guaranteed to bring out the latter, depending on just how low ball it is. If you're dealing with an obviously high value item and your offer is absurdly low, there's a very good chance the seller will tell you to get fucked or something along those lines.

Figure out what the item is roughly worth and offer a somewhat lower but still reasonable price for it. You can ask if there are any items they'd take in addition to or in place of currency. Usually no, but sometimes yes.

I even had a guy quite a few leagues ago who wanted at least 18ex for a nice rare 6l chest, but I had offered 15. He told me that if I had a really interesting story to tell him, I could have it for 10 (it was definitely worth the 18).

I told him a story from my younger years about having 2 blown out tires in the middle of the night in the Arizona desert with not even one spare, and finding some Native American dude at a defunct motel in a tiny shit town about 5 miles back (which I walked to). He called another of his buddies and they hooked me up with 2 tires (which they even put on for me) for $40 and some weed I had with me (which I then smoked with them lol).

The seller enjoyed the whole story enough (there's a lot more to it) that he sold me the chest for 8ex. I still have it and use it on Standard.

I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.

Ouh sweet summerchild, those are boutique items. You can only watch but don't touch ;). Unless you give them an offer they cant refuse.
Still sane exile?
i usually don't bother because people seem to think their unpriced items are the most valuable thing that has ever dropped or been crafted and i'm not interested in such "negotiations". just tell me how much and i decide if i want to pay that much.

I often throw random things into the public tab just because I'm too lazy to sort the loot when I'm actively farming maps.

Sometimes there are even jerks who start to teach me not to throw items in the public tab if I'm not going to sell them, then they usually hear the truth about their parents and go to blacklist

I agree, I always set my searches to priced items only.

This is rule only for generic items with well known prices - like currency, divination cards etc. If there is actually an item listed - you can make offers, because if seller didn't wanted to hear offers - he wouldn't listed an item for sale.

He might - if he doesnt have a non public tab to store said item.
