I give up on party in this game.
" You do not need a WoW like loot-system to make it better than FFA. There is games dropping items for you only. The items you see as dropped are only visible to you until you yourself drop them or until a certain amount of time passes at which point they become visible to everybody. That kind of loot-system would encourage people to group more. |

i really think the only reason people dont party is because of the free for all loot we all know how that went in diablo2 lol everybody was a lootninja and personally i hate fighting over loot it distracts me from the actual gameplay so i will solo :)

I really hope that they plan to add some kind of loot distributing system, parties aren't fun with how cutthroat it can get for orbs.

"Uh, if you want to play Path of Exile at all, it's not a choice; there is no offline singleplayer mode. So that often-underestimated chunk of the ARPG audience that usually doesn't connect to online servers? Well, they're right there in town with you and everyone else, because they have to be. Personally, the only people I want to play with are friends, so I apologise, on my part, for ignoring any party invites sent my way, but if you're going to ask random people to do something, you shouldn't be expecting an overwhelmingly positive response anyway. Played with my brothers this weekend and for the most part we went with a I get one then you get one kinda system for orbs/scroll and another one for gear. Gear that were tailored more to our characters getting priority.
It wasn't fun in d2 to stop focusing on playing the game because you're waiting for loot to drop when you're in a random group. |

A WoW need or greed system would be better than FFA imo, though I don't think it fits this kinda game very well.

" Please no WoW loot system. This does not fit in action rpg games like PoE. It would break the flow of the game so much that would not be funny. A system based on seeing only the loot dropping for you (therefore each player in the party sees different loot) would be the best to not break the flow while still allowing the benefit of more loot as players can always trade later. I don't see why people would take something they would otherwise never use for their character. I'm a 2h duelist, what good will wand do for me? There's no currency either so there's really no point in selling it or gaining 5 fragments of whatever.
Not to mention the limited inventory space. Seriously, what gives? |

My gf got 2 group invites while we played during the weekend, but she declined them because we where grouped together already. We don't really care to deal with other people sometimes. We talk in person so we can communicate easily. :D

" I see where you are going with this, but this is just treating the symptoms, not the disease. In Diablo 2, grouping was never an Issue because of the lobby system. People even encourage you to join their games by naming them exactly after what act they are currently playing. And if they don't want to join anyone, they simply choose password protection for joining. You underestimate the feeling of competition given to you by the FFA loot system. You are not only fighting monsters, but also the other players in getting the best stuff. It actually encourages you to concentrate on killing everything as quickly as possible while always keeping an eye out for the best drops. This made the game the fast-paced-action-experience many people loved. If you personalize loot, you destroy this experience and you have little difference left to slow-paced singleplayer where you comfortly explore the levels. So, my point is: Encourage the players to group via the game mechanics, not by changing major game aspects. For example, implement a lobby-system. Or some kind of LFG list, where you can set yourself active with a short description and players can look you up and join your group, vise versa. I think this game does everything right so far, but this is a major flaw for me. Last edited by Langbogen#4952 on Apr 2, 2012, 7:53:21 PM
