I give up on party in this game.
" Do you think I don't know that? I don't enjoy people using sniper rifles against me in shooters. This doesn't stop me from playing shooters and they are still a legitimate concept in shooters. I simply don't care if you don't enjoy a game aspect which I enjoy. I understand your reasoning and I'm trying to tell you why your are believing a lie. You want a socialist PoE with forced rules, I want an unaltered anarchist PoE. Simple as that. " It's not a very good way of discussion something by completely ignoring the points the other party made and just saying they are bullshit without stating why. |

" You don't seem to grasp that I am not the one complaining about the implemented loot system. You are the one. I am simply defending it. And you call me shortsighted? I see an apple tree. I eat the apples. Than you come along and say "I don't like apples! I want oranges on that tree!". I look around me, and I see oranges growing on MMO-trees everywhere. But somehow you want to grow oranges on my apple tree. And you call me selfish. Last edited by Langbogen#4952 on Apr 3, 2012, 11:04:08 AM

" This sums it up perfectly. Thank you for your non-contribution to this discussion. Your nonsensical opinions are nothing but distractions that prevent actual discussion from taking place. " ... to let them know the game isn’t going to be very fair from here on out."

" Why are you quoting me out of context? Why are you destroying this discussion? |

I agree with the OP, Absolutely lame. The issue though, is with this type of game, there is a sense of individuality; so everyone, sometimes already showing selfish traits, will feel someone else is there to steal all their loots.
But, I might be wrong on this, but maybe on the more extreme modes, people will be more willing to party up. As I understand, there are difficulty modes you can pick at character creation? Make hell mode (perma death) for Extreme and it will then make people think twice before playing alone! Last edited by IDCAA#4375 on Apr 3, 2012, 11:07:13 AM

"... or I can team up with friends and stomp some baddie NPCs? There doesn't have to be a competition between players in MP, there can also be a group of people working together to beat the mobs. "True, fighting AI is quite different from fighting players but the fighting shouldn't take part within a group that are supposedly working together towards the same goal. Also, it is possible to have a decent challenge vs AI as well. Only question is if it is going to be like that in PoE In most games I get the biggest kick out of them through theory-crafting various areas. I played wow for a few years and there I actually had more fun toying around with simulationcraft and discussing strategies-mechanics on forums than actually playing the game. PoE with it's massive amount of character customization looks like to be a perfect game for me as it gives endless amount of combinations to toy around with. Assuming new and harder content will be coming in after release at semi-decent rate I can easily see myself being a pure pve player, possibly even soloing stuff when I don't get any decent friends here. "And having the option to choose the version is completely out of question and everyone must use this version that you prefer? | |
I regret not trying party system during open weekend.
At first I was afraid im too terrible and my build was really really bad (and it was). There is also this general bad mmo experience that when you finish your dungeon/quest some people take ages to do their stuff in town, some want a break (smoke, food etc.), some want to play 2hours straight and then leave or whatever. Its just not matching with random people. With friends you can voice chat and communicate better in general. |

Some people such as myself have partied with my friends on skype so much that I feel uncomfortable going with a random. Not only that but there's always the off chance you'll be paired with an asshole/looter.

"I do have to laugh at "forced rules". Games are made of rules. A truly anarchic PoE would be you sitting alone with a piece of paper, free to imagine whatever you want about what goes on in the world. Telling me that I want rules in my games is not some kind of insult. Nor, by the way, is wanting a "socialist" item scheme (though again I must point out that I don't have much of a preference - I'm not arguing for a changed loot system, I'm arguing against your ridiculous objections). But hey, at least you're perhaps acknowledging that this is simply a matter of preference there, that's some kind of progress. Oh, wait, you have to go sabotage that by telling me I'm "believing a lie". You are quite literally telling me that you know what I think better than I do. And you wonder why I consider your argument bullshit? This is pretentiousness, arrogance in the extreme. So yeah, I do think you don't know that, because you've not shown that you even have the slightest understanding of cooperation. Indeed you don't even want to accommodate other people as an option, you seem 100% bent on obstruction, so that you don't grasp cooperative play very well is unsurprising I suppose. You keep saying things like that an alternate loot system will "rob people of competition" even though what's being argued by myself and others is that we don't necessarily want this kind of competition. If you aren't going to acknowledge that, you're not even arguing in the same domain as us. |
