7 consoles? You mean PC and whatever the current Nintendo one is so you can play Zelda

There used to be Steam. or nothing really

Now there's:
Steam
uPlay
Origin
Epic Games
Windows Store
Bethesda
Battlenet Launcher
This is stretching it but good old games launcher

I mean it's mostly Steam's fault for charging so much (because they could). I really wonder how much money they've lost not being able to sell Fallout 76 and the new CoD on it. There really should be a law that every game has to go on good old games

i dont own any nintendo systems. the last one ive had was a gamecube and i gave that away quite a while ago to a friend for her kid to play on. right now the consoles i have are just have a ps2, ps3 super slim, ps4, regular xbox, the halo edition of the 360 - probably my 4th 360 now after all my RROD's and dvd drive failures, a launch xbox one and an xbox one x. i got alot of audio and video hardware and cables running across the living room, but still no nintendo i'm afraid.

but if i had a new nintendo console i would probably buy zelda for it yeah, wow and then you could really sock it to me with that pretty little retort of yours hey? but quite frankly i also dont see any point in buying a system just to play one game on it, especially one that i can emulate. but youre right, if i did buy a nintendo just to play one game, it would no doubt be zelda. i'm probably going to burn in hell for that right?

i just like to play games. i dont give two shits whether or not i have to install another launcher. especially if they are offering the game cheaper. im a big boy i know how to launch my games on my own. i dont need steam to hold my hand. im not a brand fanboy, and i dont require everything restricted to one platform and one launcher just to be able to enjoy my games.

also i cry myself to sleep every night worrying about how much money a company like steam must be losing for not selling a game like fallout 76 and call of duty on their storefront. like totally i should be glad i dont work for them or own stocks in their company, that way i would have to give two shits right? oh no all that extra pocket change a company like activision and bethesda must be losing out on because somebody would rather run their latest $60+ reskin on steam. how tragic. i guess that means that this year their CEO's will only be able to afford 3 more bentleys instead of 4, to park in the back of their guest house, beside their yacht and private jets. i'd much rather worry about those guys rather than my own financial situation and the rising cost of living here.

god bless lord gaben right?

We are payers not players these days.
I always see many players in any town I go to. Now the PoE towns of old when we only had 3 acts total, they were desolate:

I could stand there and not see a single player ever show up. That was very low total players (< 6K before the next release). Today it's:

Remember, all we have is Steam Charts so probably triple or quadruple these numbers for real total players at any time.

GGG pushing out 4 new content updates every year is great for all players in a time when even one new content update seems to be a difficult to impossible for most game companies. Because of the tight (super short) development cycle even when we get buggy code GGG works hard to eliminate them. Then they go back and rework the code where possible to polish it. Example, the latest patch 3.5.3 gave us:

Performance Fixes

  • Optimised serverside calculation of damage and on-death explosions. This should result in a noticeable reduction in frame lag when killing large packs of monsters, especially when using explode effects (such as Inpulsa's Broken Heart and Profane Bloom).

This one optimization has made playing the Tectonic Slam build significantly faster. First time I played after this patch I thought I was getting a faster DPS from Tectonic Slam. Then I read the patch notes and it was "OH WOW!" and "Thank you GGG" that this update has made TS playing so much smoother.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

i only played this league long enough to buy up a cinderswallow urn but really i only play in standard and from my own experience i cant really say this game is totally dead. im still getting alot of whispers from people who want to buy cheap stuff and levelling gear. the moment i start a delve or enter a zana map with one portal, i'm pretty much guaranteed to get like 4 or 5 of them lol. i'd like to joke and say that that's probably like half the population in standard, but the game still seems alot more alive than that

Games were always made to make money. The only diffrence is that in 2005 literally no one would give any money to unfinished bugged crap we today get. The only reason such shitty unfinished, bugged games are made today is fact that people are giving money for such games. Thats all.
The only difference? In 2005 I'd guess 10% of the households in America had computers.
