GGG COMPLETELY fucked up endgame in Abyss...

Mapping is the only thing that everyone will do on a daily basis.
Therefore its the best possible currency sink available. If it wasnt mapping, GGG would have to come up with something else and they would be forced to force the new feature down our throats.
I doubt the community would like that better.
Careful what you are asking for.

Perhaps that will sound shocking for you, but PoE leagues dont last indefinetely. Players have only 3 months to play in current league, after that, they start from scratch again. And again. And again. It's the best, no, the ONLY currency sink that really works well. Without leagues, players will flood in currency after several months, even despite frustrating and unrewarding map system forces them to spend currency and time.
After ~1 month, players can already feel how league gets saturated with currency, and how a lot of players already leaving it. After 2 months, league usually feels like a ghost town.

Now tell me, why game developers should bother with all that RNG-gated content when they have far better sinks - LEAGUES?

And to prevent your next question - yes, GGG do NOT CARE about standart league, and so do i. For me, standard doesnt exist.

For me endgame is tier 10-11. Im fine with that. I hate buying anything, so i just run random maps, reroll alot as i like leveling. Yes, im not rich, i dont use sextants, i dont sustain maps, i just run casually whatever i like. I tryed sextant blocking, vaaling and all that. Got nothing in return for about 10 maps. Too much hassle for me. No, thanks.

I would be fine farming T10-11 too, if those were challenging. Sadly, power creep in PoE is so massive, that for kinda strong build, even 8-modded T14-15 map doesnt feel imposing. T10-11 (even with 8 mods) are complete faceroll for those, and feel VERY BORING.

I'd love to see you doing -12% all res, 100% cold damage, 100% lightning damage, crit tier 11 map.

Does it matter when all enemies are dead in 0.1 sec?

Depends on the number of Abyss cracks. Also there is really no difference whatsoever between whites in tier 11 and tier 15, they all die from 1 hit. What matters are the map mods.

Its not that different from gambling in a casino.
Its purely based on RNG and the only way to overcome or mitigate RNG, is by doing the same thing over and over again.
If you had an infinite amount of money, you could force any casino on planet earth into bankruptcy.

This is a poor example since it is absolutely false. The casinos make the rules and the rules are set up to guarantee that they always win in the long run. If your false idea is based on the idea that you can just make the bet higher and higher until you win and put the casino out of business, that doesn't work because the casino has a betting limit in place. I can't think of any other scenario where anyone could think such a plan could possibly work?

Well tbh my first question would have been: "Why are you mistaking a server wipe for a currency sink?"
Thats not the same thing, not even close.

Why do gamedesigners bother with currency sinks?
Because inflation is a thing. Thats why.
What do you think would happen, if players like me didnt have to invest in maps? Id be drowning in currency by now. What am I supposed to do with that? Buying gear? Why would I?
I can clear tough rolled Guardian maps already. There is little to no point in upgrading my gear at this point and its not even because my gear is awesome (its not), its all about "its good enough to get the job done".

Now if players like me had thousands of chaos orbs readily sitting in our tabs and nothing to do with those orbs, the market will react accordingly.
Which means prizes for good items would increase like crazy. Just because there are enough rich dudes not giving 2 shits about spending a thousand chaos orbs on whatever item. What else could they possibly do with that amount of currency?

How is that any better for the general playerbase, if they cant afford gear anymore? How is that less frustrating?

Now here is the real kicker that might upset you a lot - I do apologize if it does.
If the only leagues, where you could access and sustain toptier maps were Breach and/or Harbinger league - I got bad news for you.
Those 2 were by far the easiest leagues in terms of sustaining maps. Honestly it was so easy, it was disgusting to me.
If you cant build and sustain a healthy mappool in Abyss league, thats yours and not the games fault.
Im not trying to mock you or anything like that. Really, thats not my intention.
You are obviously lacking basic knowledge on how to build and sustain maps. Again Im really sorry if thats upsetting you - but its the plain truth.

The mapping system and map drops are fine.
Put some effort into it and learn how to sustain. Thats is the most important piece of knowledge, if you intend to do toptier content in a temp league regularly.

Really?

You need to tell me an example using the phrase "if you had an infinite amount of money" is bullshit?
Of course it is, should be self explanatory.
Haven't had any problems with maps including t16 with just alch and go without trading. Atlas almost completed.

But rolling maps is complete shit.

Okay, let's say you're playing slot machines. Very generous slot machines return 95% of the money fed into them as prizes. If you put money into them for an infinite amount of time the casino would keep 5% of the money and never grow broke. They would grow richer by 5% of infinity.

If you had an infinite amount of money and went to the roulette wheel with the idea of making the casino go bankrupt then let's say the casino would go bankrupt at a 1 million dollar loss. You could never bet over the betting limit which would be way less than 1 million dollars. Therefore you end up in the same place as the slot machine example, just giving the casino a fraction of the money you bet in the long run.

Lets just say you missed my point entirely...

Its not about the freakin casino thing.
