[Sept 18] Story, Voice Acting and NPC Chat
As much as I like the idea of a short opening cinematic, I kind of like the cold opening, particularly with the narration from PC depending on class. Ending up on the beach fighting zombies and sand spitters with little or no explanation is interesting, as it helps put things into perspective. With a little tweaking it might be one of the more interesting ways to open the story. For new players, not having the whole back story laid out for them might not be the best route for things, but this is more of a standard approach to game story telling than for an MMO.
Wraeclast: A penal colony for the undesirables for an empire where the land itself wants you dead... sound familiar?

This has more to do with the NPC chat in PoE than the story line itself. Anyway, I think that there should be a few more "extra" NPCs at the encampments. I'm not talking about NPCs that give more quests and such, I'm just talking about people that, like when you first enter Lioneye's Watch, lay around and are just, more or less, "extras". 'Cause, while I was playing, the main NPCs kept referring to how they had to take care of the other people, but when you look around, there aren't that many other people to take care of. So, in my humble opinion, I think adding "extras" would give the game a little more depth. What would also be neat is if you could talk to some, if not all, of those "extras" and kind of get their back story.
But that's just me. ^-^ |

One thing that I've noticed so far is how superb and phenomenal the current voice acting is. It definitely adds a rich layer of immersion to the game which I appreciate immensely.
