[Sept 18] Story, Voice Acting and NPC Chat

+1 story

I feel we lack NPC in combat zones in act 1

I think NPC should have animations (walking working)

NPCs should give varied rewards. Or at least you get the reward from the field, it gets boring to receive gems from NPCs

More animations when changing areas.

More animations for PC when defeating a boss.

hidden story throughout the game (hidden writings, whispered voices, paintings.)

keep it tragic, logical with player involvment (not a mention of a sister you never knew, and you will never feel attachment to)

Turn NPC the PC got attached to and interracted alot to AI/bosses.

NPC reactions to radical passive skill choices. (this also needs more radical passive skills like AoF)

As many connections as possible between NPCs acts areas. The act 2 npc is daughter of act 1 npc, and so on. An entire Matrix needs to be created. Think D1 Leoric, king of tristram, lazarus, their priest, Lachdanan etc etc

I personally really enjoyed the lack of hand leading at multiple points in the acts, where no quests came up and I just had to press on and find out what unspeakable horrors (or pleseant suprises) lay ahead.

I'm with you, man. The thing is, what do we do about all those who disagree with us and want to ask the chat where EVERYTHING is instead of playing the game to find it?

What do you mean? NPCs in the wilderness? Wouldn't they be dead?

This might be a good idea, but it might make them more difficult to click on with multiple people in town.

I'm not sure I agree here. Gems is good.

What do you mean by this? Animations when changing areas???

Do you want your character to jump up and down? Not sure I get this idea either, hehe, but at least I know what it means. :)

YES!!!!! YES YES, much needed indeed. This made D1 (and other games) so awesome IMO, finding little books and reading them.

What?

This seems like it might be difficult and a little unnecessary, given the more serious visibility and involvement issues ahead of them.

Good idea here too, would help us feel like we know the NPCs instead of them just being "that one that sells orbs."

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to post these suggestions on, though. Maybe try making a new thread with more detailed explanations (or only the most important ones at first)?

Definitively looking forward to the voice acting, story definitively is still lacking the oomph to get me into it.

Voice acting and a bit more involving quests would be enough.
I'm really looking forward to the voice acting and to a more integrated story line. Path of Exile does great in terms of gameplay, mechanics, costumization options and creativity (in gameplay/mechanics/costumization options) but I still miss the feeling of a well planned storyline.

I think voice acting will increase the general experiance of the story by a lot. This is still one of the few points in which the game should really improve compared to other games.
Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It's the transition that's troublesome.

Hardcore to the bone.
Hellskin, D2 was actually released in 2000. It was only the LoD expansion that was released in 2001.

Some players need a clear path through the game. Much more info about and around persons, quests and the world.
Others dont need any task given by npcs, the just go and explore.

Its difficult to make a good mix between this.
I think Gruia had some nice ideas.
Make Connections between persons in different areas or find hidden information about the story, would be very nice.

We do not want anything like this in PoE ! I hate when a game behaves its players like an idiot, let the exploration flow without questions asked, we do not need a clear path, players should investigate and themselves must find that what next would be !!

Just watch this tragicomic;

Any chance of becoming a voice actor?

I call dex/int character if it's a bard, it could do with a nice Canadian accent, eh? :)
I'm thinking side-quests.
Some people don't like talking to NPC and just wanna go bashing things? good for them. I, personally, feel really bored from playing through act 1. I know, there should be more stuff added later, lots of things happen in act 3, etc. But right now I did 5 quests and played 5 hours, I still have no idea what's happening. So, more side-quests explaining the plot would be nice, while keeping the possibility of running through the map without doing them.

Even Drakensang online was more interesting, with it's "oh, I can't feed my family, can you go in the middle of nowhere kill blobs to collect 10 fish?". I'm not trying to be cynical (ok maybe a little), I just want a story, not bashing and leveling a dude for better armor. Please give us a date for a patch adding up story; I'll be stopping playing until then, I feel like most of the game is missing right now.
