That need to be addressed before or after people address the problem with incarceration of black people? I've heard they are way more likely to be convicted and to receive longer sentences when arrested for a crime.

might have something to do with the type of crime being committed.

My Wage-gap-myth-type bullshit is off the charts with this one.

My mistake for writing this way.

Decades of research have shown that the criminal courts sentence black defendants more harshly than whites. But a striking new investigation of sentencing disparities in Florida by The Sarasota Herald-Tribune expands our understanding of this problem in two important ways.

It exposes the fact that African-American defendants get more time behind bars — sometimes twice the prison terms of whites with identical criminal histories — when they commit the same crimes under identical circumstances. It also shows how bias on the part of individual judges and prosecutors drives sentencing inequity.

Hmm, searching so far I see the data is incomplete and cant sustain what I just bolded.
Help me out here here if you can find it, I see same type of conviction, but it mentions nothing about if its first time breaking the law or the monetary backing of each defendant, conduct in the court, etc.
It seems to only mention race:

Also note that someone with a previous pen time can have a sentence "upgraded" in type.

Ofc if shit like this is indeed happening (and lets face it, there's always a few bad apples, and positions of power tend to attract scumbags so I definitely expect it to happen, just dont know how widespread it is) then some judges should be investigated and perhaps stripped of power. The law says to treat citizens equally, follow it FFS.

Oh btw as for quotas here's why I think they are a problem overall:

-one should not get into a university because they belong to X group, one should get into a university because they meet the standards of acceptance (they are good students)

-a quota presupposes the group "protected" is too dumb to get in normally.

-consequently, it destroys the standards of the university and the prestige of getting into one, if you got in by a quota you should not be seen as equal to other students. Because you are not (if you think people of a group being less accepted its because of discrimination then maybe you should instead investigate to see if it is indeed so and penalize administration that actively does it)

-its not positive for the person being "helped" either because often they are put in a place where they do not meet the standards and therefore just waste a few years of their life there when they could be graduating at a school of their level otherwise.

-quotas stop people that deserved to get in because "we have space reserved for some who couldnt get in otherwise, sorry".

-quotas also negatively brand students that would have gotten in without them anyway

I dont care what color/sexuality whatever you are. If you get in by your own strengths you deserve respect. If I had to choose to be served by a doctor that got in by his/her own strengths and a doctor that got in by quotas then I'd avoid the quota doctor like the plague.
Thing is, such levels of education are competitive, there should be no "free prize" for anyone, these arent school activities were you get a prize for taking part.

For monetary problems there's scholarships. You can always give some money to help a gifted student attend some uni. But you cant make people smarter by forcing them in.

GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
I soak my black chocolate cookies in my milk until they break and drown, then I eat them.
How is milk racist? Are you sure that isn't a joke?

If you don't realize how drinking milk is racist, it means you are a passive 14/88 supporter. Shame.

I also forgot that it doesnt take into account if the person has several transgressions when is given jail time. I mean, its not all the time that you go to court just for one thing. Someone that is in court for battery might have multiple accounts of it and some other crimes mixed in. 1s 2nd and 3rd degree felonies included loads of different stuff.

The data is pretty bad. too simplistic, too generalistic.

I mean for example:

If you make this about race only. what kind of racist is this?
hates blacks on drug possesion and 2nd degree felony but not ones that drive w/o license...? In fact, driving without license she hates only whites?
I also dont know how they arrive to numbers of days, do they just sum them or they average? actually mousing over says number of charges, but not number of people, lacking.
