FAILED TO CONNECT TO INSTANCE

how to fix it -0-
Same problem here, started a week ago with the path i think. Just today it happened on a coleseum map, a palace map and on my first try versus chimera. Its very frustating becouse im a summoner and i lost all my spectres every time it happens.
Happens for me as well.
Win 10 Pro 64-bit
32GB RAM
GTX 1070 w/ updated drivers
Tried all DirectX modes, switching the HD that POE is installed on, lowered gfx settings. Still crashing.
Is the game down? I'm stuck at character selection. It doesn't even show my chars in the list anymore.
Just got kicked out trying to go into a 9 tier map (failed to connect to instance).
Happening to me as well but my situation makes it a little more convoluted...

I played PoE pretty much since launch, and for the majority of the time it has been stable and playable, very rare for me to get any disconnects.

I played nearly every league up to and including Legacy HC. About a month or so ago (before last PoE patch) my motherboard died. I replaced the board (with an identical one) and bought a different GFX card (still older, but better than my previous) and updated all the drivers and got everything up and running.

My PC seems perfectly fine/normal (just like it was before) for all applications besides PoE. Now I have these system changes (mobo replacement, different graphics card) and the last PoE patch also released while I was dealing with these hardware issues, so there's also that to factor in.

Now I'm constantly getting "Failed to Connect to Instance" about 10-20x per day, I check my client.txt file (in the Path of Exile "log" subdirectory) and it shows I hit a 990-1100 ping and then get booted from game when attempting to enter some instances. Meanwhile I can sometimes play for 30-45mins entering lots of instances with no issue whatsoever (30-50ms on those instances)

For example here's a successful instance change with no disconnect or issue and only 31ms on changing instance

Here's one where I get booted from the game while changing instance, showing 1014ms

I ran winMTR directed at the California gateway, speedtest.sjc01.softlayer.com (the one I generally connect to)

Doesn't look like any major problems there, shows a small "loss" at that last networklayer.com node but apparently that's common and is actually just filtering, or so I read.

I've also run PackCheck and all my files are synced.

I've also tried every possible ingame setting, changed the DirectX versions, lowered all the graphic settings. At this point I'm not sure if it's a problem with the server, or on my end, or with my internet, or with graphics, or what, I'm lost at even troubleshooting this. I read online some people have this problem going on for a long time now; as I said, for me my experience on PoE was virtually trouble-free for years! it's only just recently over the last few weeks where I've had this issue.

Any ideas or suggestions anyone might have would be much appreciated. At this point my next plan is to try older graphics card drivers, reinstall my network adapter, and if all else fails possibly just reformat my PC and start from scratch. The constant disconnects have made the game I love virtually unplayable at this point.

Same problem on two different PCs with two different internet providers.

Main PC with 16 GB of RAM, 480 GB SSD and Windows 10 64 bit. The problem appeared several month ago, always while loading new location. Now it's getting worse, on first-second jump I'm having loading screen for a long time (about a minute), then disconnect.

On second PC (8 Gb of RAM, HDD, Windows 7 64 bit) the game now simply crashes while loading location. Two-three jumps -> desktop.

Is it any reliable solution yet? Because at current state the game is simply unplayable (at least for me).

All other online games work flawlessly.

Same issue, started yesterday, keep getting failed to connect to the instance, seems to happen more frequently if you cast a buff/golem and then immediately go into a portal.
Happened for the last few days. Today it seems to be really bad, even when just trying to load into the game...
Might just go back to playing Guild wars 2 instead of this. At least that does work as it is suppose to. Too bad i wasted $20 dollars on new tabs when i can't play or use them with this crap DC's.

Funny you say that, I noticed the same thing but thought I was going crazy.

When I have a golem up, or any kind of animation active (eg. Blade Vortex spinning) and enter a portal/zone I often crash. Also while grouping with a friend, if the friend enters the portal/zone before I do, and starts taking actions, I tend to crash. It could obviously be pure coincidence but I'm starting to think any movement or animation that isn't static or part of the default landscape/monster density is causing some kind of hiccup resulting in crashing.

Anyway I posted above I was having problems - I ended up downgrading from the newest NVDIA driver to a much older one, and for at least a few days it seemed a lot more stable, hardly any crashing, but then it started right back up again for whatever reason, now last couple days its been back to 10-20x "failed to connect to instance" again and again every session.

Really don't know what's going on.
