[2.5] Burning Vortex Build - Double Degen Tank Elementalist - Shaper Viable - HC or SC

Im starting the red maps need a little more damage to kill bosses on tier 13 14, but not bad

My friend played this build from the start of Hardcore Essence League, He farmed hard from the start and was clearing t13+ maps just fine after the first week. He killed Core Malachai and then he rage fought the Phoenix because he couldnt get a different fragment and died with 10% left of the boss, this was a pretty solid effort considering he couldnt even ignite the boss. The character name was "Onfizzle" on account "MrShogun". For my own experience I have farmed t12/t13 maps in HC just fine. I recently rerolled in ESC and now have a 6 link, I am currently level 81 and hope to start posting some higher level more DPS version stuff soon.

Southbound are a solid option if you feel the prolif should be a bigger focus of the build and don't want to worry about a higher block % character (Defense was a huge factor in my gear decisions for the initial build). On my standard character I am still undecided which option I will stick with in the end but Southbound are very tempting. The life % is very nice with a solid resist, I will add this to the gearing option's so people can have even more choice's of gear.
There are lot's of cool interaction's a build like this can have so please link any item's or cool idea's you have for other's to see. Some of the idea's I have already planned but they are specific or different build variation's so I won't be able to go into detail until I've had the time/motivation to test them.

This is one current Idea I have been testing but it pretty much take's away any Energy Shield benefit's so would suit a pure life, blood rage using super DPS version of the build.

Would using the Stone of Lazhwar be good for this build or do you think that the spell block would not be needed? I am playing in EHC and am doing the passive tree that includes the +1 curse nodes in it

Edit: Also would a swap to a shield like a lioneye's remorse be good for uber lab runs?

I think stone of lazhwar is a decent amulet choice if you are going to get as much normal block as possible and all your other gear is sorted for ele weakness etc.

For lab running the Lioneye's Remorse is a good option for trap section's. Using a Cloak of Flame as a chest piece for Trap section's is another good source of mitigation. Switching Discipline for Vitality is another option. I will add a section to the guide in the future about lab running with some advice including what is mentioned here. Hey nice to see you are doing high level content with the build, that map has some pretty high damage mods I think once you have completion from the vaal orb it will be alot easier to handle.

For kill bosses tier high any other link setup to do more damage with vortex?

For pure single target you could move flameblast to your 5/6 link and gain some dps there.
the link's could be 1.Flameblast, 2.Conc Effect 3.Chance to Ignite, 4.Fire Penetration, 5.Controlled Destruction and 6. Empower or Inc Burning Damage.

To do more damage with vortex's cold ground degen maybe elemental focus, rapid decay and empower could work but I haven't really put much thought into it
