The decline of Path of Exile

I am not liking the direction the game is going, whether its shown on a graph or not.

The changes I don't like seem to be made to appeal to a larger audience, which is clearly failing as the game is not growing.

Making it easier where a new player can get lvl 90 and have very good gear after a week of playing is not something that I want in my games. It just isn't particularly interesting to do the same thing every league, play for a few days and realise you've done everything there is to do. Since it's not hard to get 90 anymore or whatever it might be that you want to do, anyone can do it and fast. Previously, you'd spend each league trying to get further than you did last time, getting lvl 85,86 whatever. But being in the best map available after 1-2 days of self found play doesn't make for a long lasting game.

People used to make the same thread about the exact opposite reasons, years ago.And you pretty much shot yourself in the foot with your first sentence, which pretty much proves that people base the future of a product on their opinion.

Yet here we are,4 years since the beginning, still waiting for the game to die...someone said "one day this thread will be real",if that gives you any comfort, you may very well become some kind of an oracle, since this will eventually be true for the universe itself.

Check back in 6 days, who knows, maybe you will like it,we don't even have the patch notes yet.

Oh and in 1-2 days of SF,you might get to t5 maps, for end game, try 2-3 months,or maybe never, since without trading and grinding, you aint going nowhere near reds/core/uber atziri, and we will have 5 or more of those. Let alone making fun and viable builds instead of generic melee/range/caster builds.

"The decline of google searching Path of Exile."

I compared the search results "path of exile" vs. "poe" and it doesn't seem to follow a similar trend.

https://www.google.com/trends/explore?date=2012-12-26%202016-08-26&q=path%20of%20exile,poe

Maybe people start googling poe instead of path of exile once they learn of the game?

OK so you google PoE instead of Path of Exile? You know that Poe is used in other areas than this game, but Path of Exile very rarely is right? Such as Edgar Allan Poe?

And if you're saying people just know about poe so they never google it... well games like league of legends are getting tons of googles anyway without any major declines, a lot more healthy than this up and down decline. Games like League or Dota that are twice or more as old as PoE are still getting consistent searches.
You mean this Edgar Allen Poe? Something tells me that he isn't a popular search.

Honestly, what difference does it really make? It's like a steam chart showing trends of PoE play while virtually 0 of my friends play PoE through the steam client nor do I use the steam client. You're going to look for any evidence you can to support your feelings of the game. I happen to be pretty happy with where the game is and do not have serious concerns with where the game is heading. Doesn't mean I agree with every change the developers make but it hasn't ruined my spirit for loading up and playing over the last 4 years. I am sure I will eventually tire of playing just like every other game I have played, maybe you are at the point of being burned out and moving on to another game? It happens and is perfectly okay and natural to do.
Sound the dread alarm, through the primal body! Sound the reveille, to be or not to be. Rise! Stay the grand finale! Stay the reading of our swan song and epilogue. One drive to stay alive! Elementary, muster every fiber. Mobilize! Stay alive!
It's because only .01 or Rmah's can even afford to play fun or good builds.

Also the fact that the labrynth was the worst and literally the most useless thing I've seen in any ARPG. Like you added us having to do Act 4 and gave no reason for it, except story. I thought maybe some spots there would be better to farm or better to get maps but no, I have to replay act 4 three times for every character for the rest of Path's life just for skill points and to know the story (which was a one time thing)

But the labrynth I think killed it for many.

Even someone who hates A4 with a passion must understand that Acquaduct and Dried Lake are important parts of the game now.

didn't think Vaal could be some real world shit :O

Orange River in South Africa!!!

even the color is almost the same , woah really makes you thinkgen.

edit: i always quit 1-2 months into a league and go back to standart casually / playing different games.

very normal for PoE.
matterfact the last third of a league is pretty boring since trading becomes almost nonexistant.
cant sell rares anymore for a lot
cant sell decent uniques well
only 6links and vaaled shit going round the table.

so why bother grinding further?

for example ive ran around 100 ubers , over 60% of em with twice enchanted and i´ve never seen reduced EQ duration or 2 nado proj which was hot this league.

that left a bitter taste in my mouth and made me semi-rage-quit the game slowly.

still going to play atlas / new league or play atlas first on standart to see shaper fight once myself and then get into essence league trying to craft some dank item for currency / self use.

i´ve been here since 2012 and i always take breakes , always get muted LOL and keep thugloving GGG in my very own way.

(fuck mystery boxes though)

You're basing 'the game is not growing' off google trends? Well, if you're going to be using personal anecdote, I will too.

I have had 10+ friends start playing this game over the few years I've been here. Of those friends, only three have permanently quit because of 'direction the game is going', while five more joined sometime after.

In my experience, the game is growing.

EDIT: Just as well, I tend to play the first two months of a league, then take a break. I skipped most of Prophecy because Overwatch released.

I use google often in relation to this game. Usually my search looks like: "poe wiki reach" which gives the wiki page for reach of the council bow as the first result. I do it that way for just about everything I look up on wiki. It'd be tedious to type path of exile every time.

Here's one comparing Jay Wilson to Chris Wilson: https://www.google.com/trends/explore?date=2012-12-26%202016-08-26&q=Jay%20wilson,Chris%20wilson

Okay, this searching terms doomsayers are useless, but I have to point out that your failure is stupendous. You misspelled the name of Poe.

According to the lines in this graph here it appears to be trending upward again, just saying.
